Date #5 report

Last night's date with Amazon Guy was really, really nice. I had a *crappy* day (found out my law firm is closing our office so I'll be out of my part-time job there in a few months) and when he called to firm up the plans for the evening, I mentioned what was going on...and he was all, "ok, we're going to go out and have fun to get your mind off of this, I'll take care of all the plans, etc". He made dinner reservations at my favorite restaurant and went out of his way to get Harry Potter tickets, then we went back to the restaurant for coffee and dessest...he was just really sweet, romantic and affectionate.

We had a very upfront talk about expectations, etc...he made it clear he's moving, plus being freshly divorced he isn't looking for a serious r'ship right now (which I knew of course), but I told him I'm fine with that for now and let's just have some fun while you're still here. So we did ;-). I must say, I was *very* happy with that part of things...I picked a good one, LOL. We discussed being physicially exclusive and he's fine with that but I told him I want to continue to date other people since I am ultimately looking for an LTR and he seemed fine with that too (it remains to be seen how *I* will handle it however).

He's heading out of town today for a week for T'giving but I feel reasonably confident we will continue to see each other while he's still living here and hopefully I can continue to be ok with this just being a fun fling. So far so good ;-).

Glad to hear the date went well. I guess as you say, just don't put your eggs in his basket and keep dating others even if you're sexually exclusive!

So, what did you think of HP?

Oh, I liked it a lot! Have you seen it yet?

The guy I met on CL that I've had 2 dates with called me last night (when I was out with AG) to see what I was up to this weekend but even though I didn't have plans tonight I decided to pass (too tired, LOL!). But I will see him again sometime (we didn't make firm plans though because of the holiday and my travel plans this week), plus I'm meeting another CL guy for coffee tomorrow. We shall see...

Good, good... keep busy busy! LOL

I did like HP however after reading the books, I was also left with the impression that if I had not read the book, I would have been a bit lost. What do you think? THe other problem is that I constantly look for things to happen that have not happened yet! Fortunately I have a girlfriend who remembers all the details and reminds me of what's to come. LOL

Hey Sheri - glad things seem to be going well with AG and that you are on the same page! Good luck! It seems like he really does like you but unfortunately, it sounds like bad timing. Maybe the right person at the wrong time. Always a shame when that happens. I hope things turn out well and good luck with CL guy too.

As for me, I am a HUGE geek and went to the midnight show on Thursday for HP. I LOVED IT!! Personally, I think it is my favorite so far. I agree with you bklynchik that rereading the book would have been good (which I usually do before the new movies come out but didn't have time this go round) but I think they did an excellent job of capturing the main points of the book without having all the extra junk and subplots that weren't really necessary. I even figured that the Quidditch World Cup would be a place where they could and would cut a lot of "fluff". Anyhoo, I've seen it once in the theater and will probably see it at least once more and maybe more in the theater. LOVED IT!

Hi Sheri,

Sounds like you and the Amazon guy are having a lot of fun together. Maybe the fun fling will turn into something more long-term? It might be too early to say, but are you open to relocation if things get serious? A friend once told me that the best relationships start with no expectations - I agree to some extent. Well, hope everything goes well for ya.

Eh, not really. I like living where I live. I suppose if we fell head over heels in love with each other, then I'd consider it, but I'd say the chances of that happening are pretty much slim to none.

But yes, we are having fun and that's a good thing, as Martha would say ;-).

You're playing it by the book, this should work for you.

Good luck.

If you're asking what the CL in my nick means, it stand for "community leader."
