Hi everyone.
just read the post on "OLD Nomads", and have to ask: what does "dating" actually mean in OLD world? There seem to be so many "code" words, I am quite confused.

ther eare so many types of dating definitions! ridiculous how many. basically there is casually dating, just talking, hanging out, exclusive dating, friends with benefits, committed relationships... so gray area ive just learned to date when I feel like it. date as many guys as there are out there. and to just have fun. when a guy comes along I feel is worthy and would like to get to know better - then I slow down, and try to date just him to see if I'm really into him. MOst of the time, I just date (like a nomad) around and have fun. Rarely does a guy come along that is relationship material to me. probably why ive been single for 3 years now. geez, i write that and think what a longgggg time that is.

What would the difference be between casually dating and hanging out?

I hope some more people post definitions and opinions on this question. I really don't know what dating means, either! When I was young, "dating" meant an uncomfortable evening wondering what was expected of me. Later, I had a lot of boyfriends (ummm, one night to several months!), but we met mostly by what is now called hanging out. Not actually going somewhere together. Now, I am dating via OLD and feeling very relaxed about it. But usually there are only one or two dates, and then the guy seems to sense that I am not interested in him, really, and doesn't call again. Which is okay, except I feel that it's still "his" decision that is guiding things. But I have met someone I enjoy being with, so we are "hanging out," I would say, as "dating" seems to cost more money.

I think that "dating" means spending time with someone, with the hope/possibility that at some point in the future you will be able to see that person naked.

Anything else... isn't really dating.
