So my take is what does it matter if you know about this of him whether you just met or been together a year?

I believe we all should be transparent and reveal our "true" selves, the earlier, the better. If we hold back in sharing who we are until we "hook" the other person and then tell them about our family or health or whatever then does it make a difference in the timing?

>>Is it a normal thing for people to have 7 or 8 of their teeth die and get route canals and crowns?<<

No.

I agree with last poster--it just sounds like you're not that into him, and that's OK. The root canal reference just put you over the top.

I have about 9 crowns myself, plus had to have one root canal (and trust me, root canals are not pleasant). This is all due to me not taking care of my teeth in my early 20s when I no longer had dental insurance through my parents. Nothing gross--I just rarely flossed and wasn't so conscientious about brushing my teeth at night. Once I had to start paying for expensive crowns, I became a fanatic (I'm in my 50s now). I wouldn't tell someone this in the early stages of dating, just because I think it's kind of boring more than anything. I do think some people have "weaker" teeth, because I have a friend who never really took care of her teeth either, and she has like one tiny filling.

Now, if a guy revealed some other sorts of bodily-function issues early on, that might gross me out. But I don't think I would be offended or turned off by a man mentioning root canals.

Thanks for the most entertaining conversation I've logged on to in ages!

I am laughing my a$$ off at the thought that having root (route!!!! !) canals somehow makes a person a lower class citizen. Or making fun of one's own ethnicity.

People can have root canals for all kinds of reasons. And no, Gum Disease isn't contagious. It isn't sexy, either.

So if you are looking for excuses not to date this guy that you invested 3 months in, go ahead.

Or maybe just say "I'm not that into him" and leave it at that.

And, BTW, if you ever get pregnant you might hear that you lose a tooth for each baby you have. The process of being pregnant can steal minerals from your teeth. so maybe you should consider not having children.
