Thursday's episode of Dr. Phil will be talking about dating (it looks like at least one OLD) scams.

I read some of the excerpts from the show that was to air today on his web site. It's funny how what seems obvious to me as a scam that other women would buy into. I would think it would be common sense not to send money to anyone via the web whom you do not know. Any legitimate person would not ask for money.

What I would like to see him talk about are the other aspects of OLD. I have not been on Match.com since Dr. Phil has had his name associated with that site, but I do think he should address some of those issues on his TV show. I think it would be good to go over some indicators that a guy is being phony or a player, go over how much contact is normal and when to meet, etc. Some things should be obvious, but there are many things I did not think about when I first had a profile online. One of the most upsetting things for me to come to grips with was the fact that so many men advertise themselves as something they are not. I think many say they want long-term dating relationships--that is oftentimes not what they actually want after you get to know them. Some, in fact, do not know what the hell they want or even if they want a woman at all but continue to have a profile online anyway. A perpetual dater is not very appealing to a lot of women. Neither is a guy who is unemployed, not quite divorced yet, or has other life issues that would prevent him from being a suitable match.

There are dozens and dozens of points that could be talked about on this issue. I have thought that Dr. Phil needed to get more involved in the subject of OLD for a very long time. I thought it should have been addressed on one of his shows before now. It just might save a few heartaches in the end.

My vote is for you to copy and paste what you wrote us and send it into the Dr. Phil show (go find his site on line) as that is an excellent suggestion - he just may as you make excellent points!

Well, I did e-mail his website, but after I hit "submit", it says something about not being able to accept my submission..with no other explanation. If my e-mail was too long, I would have thought it would have told me a limit on the number of characters or something. So, I have no idea what to do with that now. I did try though. I think he would be able to give a lot of pointers to people--some we may not have even thought about before.
