We all know that almost everyone online is looking for someone who is equally comfortable in a dress/tuxedo or jeans and a t-shirt.

But what are you really comfortable wearing? How do you dress? Do you dress differently on a first meet than you usually do? Do you take more care of your dress/general appearance when you're dating someone?

I am a neat/casual dresser. My dress code at work is business casual. I usually wear dress pants and a dressy sweater or shirt with flat dress shoes (I typically stand during an entire 10+ hr shift).

The Walmart bag has been working. I think chicks dig it because they can tell I'm not wearing underpants.

Depending on what I'm doing, I wear make-up and do my hair, too.

Great thread, jhoov! I'm still laughing at cupcake's "verge hoochie" and Walmart dude going commando (must burn image from brain)

I do make an extra effort for a first meet. I can't tell you how many times my coworkers have accused me of dressing up for an interview when in reality I have one of these meets. I like wearing heels, though not torturous ones. And it depends on the guy's height too. Though it's always amusing when I find myself towering over an allegedly 5'10" dude in my 1-2 inch heels (I'm 5'5").
For dates (and interviews, for that matter) I do wear eye shadow and mascara, which are things I don't normally bother with because they're such a pain to remove. And like sisfox, I can't go anywhere without lipstick (perish the thought).

Excellent thread!

Me? You can't peel me out of my jeans usually except for work. However, when I go out I do tend to dress up a bit more. I'll wear jeans with my usual dress boots and a nice blouse/shirt. I like wearing my 2 or 3 inch boots so I know the guy is my height or better with them on.

I definitely take more time when getting ready for a date/first meet. When going to work, I spend about 30 minutes from showering to getting out the door--much more sleep time! But if I'm meeting someone, I'll take my time on that. However, I do this when meeting my friends as well. :)

I dress for the occasion, but would be happy in a shopping bag if it were legal here... LOL

I hardly EVER wear jeans; I'm totally a short skirt girl and have them in denim, corduroy, khaki, bandana print, etc. Tops are almost always black (easy), cleavage dependent on how cute the guy is.

I'm not the skinniest girl, but my legs are very muscular and toned from years of bicycling, so showing them somehow makes me feel taller (I'm 5'5"). Unfortunately I have no butt, so jeans are tough for me; it can be a month or so into a relationship before the guy will see me in jeans.

And I always do my hair; amount of makeup varies, but I'll definitely be "done" for the first few weeks of dating.

Funny... I never thought of myself as a girlie girl, but reading this, hey! I guess I am!! LOL

I used to take a bit more care when dressing for a first meeting, but I had been moving towards dressing more like I regularly do- jeans, decent polo or rugby type shirt. It's how I dress for work (love a casual workplace) and about town.

It must have worked, since the new gf is into me despite not being a fashion plate! ;)
