Goodness - I think my theory of right after Christmas and New Years being a huge time for people signing up for online dating sites! I've still got my membership on eHarmony even though I've never really met anyone I wanted to date for any period of time out there. In the last week, I have received probably 20-25 new matches. Either they were holding out on me (which I wouldn't be surprised) or a bunch of new people signed up from either a good coupon deal or the New Years Resolution I think people make that they are going to "find love" this year or that they won't spend another holiday season alone! Hehe.

But typical eHarmony style, I got a ton of guys that I have NO idea how they matched me with them. One guy that is a conservative Republican cop who is also religious and a card carrying member of the NRA. Umm, I am a progressive Democrat in corporate America who might step into a church once a year and is so anti-gun that I won't even touch one. Exactly WHAT are we going to have in common? I think their compatibility matching is a wee bit off.

What I think is going on with e-harmony is that they ask you how strongly you feel about politics, your beliefs, etc. and they match you based on "how strongly you feel" --not on what those beliefs are.

I had the same problem with them--they kept matching me with right-wing people whose values were very different from mine, because we had "similar personalities." Absurd.
