Hi all, I'm thinking of signing up for eharmony again. I have joined two different times before and today I went on to

I agree w/ you about the too many choices, since we live in the same area.

So here I am, "Miss-I'll-Never-Try-OLD-Ever-Again" signing up for EH about 3 weeks ago even after reading some pretty awful reviews. Maybe it's the fact that a good friend found her hubby via EH that made me do it? Or maybe it's the devil. Who knows?

Anyway, more to the point, what has surprised me so far is that I have been getting a lot of matches, although many of them live far away. (I decided not to let geographic distance be a deciding factor.) What surprises me even more it that almost all of them have pictures and there have been a handful who even seem interesting. I am communicating with a few, although none of these guys are the ones that I find the most interesting. (Of course not! What was I thinking?) One genius who doesn't live that far away wanted to leap ahead to open communication just so he could say the following: "Wowza! You're amazing!" Haven't heard from him since. What's up with that?

I was on Match many years ago and had no luck whatsoever. Here's a thought: maybe the fact that there are so many people on Match isn't such a good thing. Maybe too many choices becomes overwhelming and tends to foster the attitude that there may always be a better, perfect match around the corner? A limited selection encourages you to take a closer look at the matches you do have. (Not that I necessarily believe in EH's matching system. Lately I have been getting more matches with whom I have little in common.)

letitgrow, I do live in a major metropolitan area and that may not be the case for you. Whatever you decide, good luck!

Another thing, based on things I've read, EH was started by a guy who is a conservative Christian (which is why he doesnt' allow gays on the site) who is very pro-marriage (not that that is bad, but not everyone wants to get married).

Match seems more like an online bar scene, and you'll have to weed through the riff raff, so to speak.

I only did a free trial of EH so I admit I have limited experience w/ it, but I didn't like the format.
