Is this even possible??

Hi everyone. I'm a frequent lurker, but rare poster. Anyway, I met a guy online through Craigslist. I actually wrote to him because I had just posted an ad, and after browsing guys ads I noticed that his (which was posted before mine) was really really similar to mine -- like down to certain word choices. I thought it was a weird coincidence so I responded and we struck up an email friendship.

Anyway, we met a few weeks ago as (or so I thought) more of a friend thing. We are both new to a big city and don't really know a lot of people. I thought we got along well and he asked me to do something again. He even sent me an email the next day! Well, schedules didn't match up and so a week went by. Last week I asked him if he wanted to see a movie that I have passes to and he said yes, but later in the week. Still nothing. I haven't heard from him in quite a while.

Now the thing is I don't really like him in THAT way. But I WOULD like to be friends with him since we are very similar in interests and humor and because I don't really know many people here. But I think HE thinks that I want to date him, which isn't the case. Is there a way to let him know that I am totally fine with being just friends or is this pretty much a lost cause?

Thanks for reading! I appreciate any advice you have.

When was the last time you talked to him? Is it possible he is waiting for you to get back in touch with him about setting a time? If you aren't interested in dating him, why not just call him or email him and just say, "Hey, did you still want to see that movie?" If he tells you that he's not interested, then no skin off your back, right?

If he said yes to the movie, then give him a call about it. Establish that you want to be friends and take it from there... this friendship could be a good one for both of you to have

He said "I can go later in the week", but then never got back to me. Was I suppoed to be following up with him on that? Man! This is so complicated!
