Finally, we're more than friends!

My friend that I met nine months ago has finally decided he wants a serious relationship with me! I am so excited, but of course I am taking it slow because I have never really been in a serious relationship where the guy initiates and actually continues to call and go out with me.
I believe he had a change of heart about a month ago when he asked how things were going with my search for someone special. I was honest with him and told him that I had just met someone on a different website where it is free to chat and send messages and also told him that this person was someone I would like to get to know. Within one week my friend was calling me more often.
Then I got a great idea. I decided it would be a nice to take him out to dinner for his birthday. It took about a week or more until he found time for me to take him out. I am so happy he did because that night was one of the most amazing nights I have ever had. I could tell he was acting a little bit different, a little bit nicer, and sweeter. I also notice he kept making excuses to hold my hands. Our conversation over dinner was great! After dinner we drove to my house and sat on the couch and talked some more. We didn't have anything important to talk about, but I didn't care. I noticed he was getting closer and he started to caress my hands and finally he held my hands. It was so romantic and perfect. I just let things happen. I did not want to ruin the moment so I went along with whatever he wanted. We sat in the living room talking and cuddling and looking at my nativity scene.
All of a sudden I said "let me show you how it looks with the lights off". This was the best idea I had all night. He finally got the nerve to kiss me. So, of course, I kissed him back. The rest is history.
This Thursday I will be meeting his family and maybe other friends of his. I am a bit nervous, but also very excited. I have never been with someone who thought I was special enough to meet his family.
I keep trying to figure out if I should get him something for Christmas. I'm not sure. Any ideas?

Hey,
Thanks for sharing your story! It was cute and romantic!
As for a Christmas gift for him, I'm not sure what he likes, but maybe you could bake him a batch of Christmas cookies, burn him a CD with some cool songs, give him a photo frame with a picture of the two of you in it . . . just a few ideas . . .

Thank you for your suggestions, but I only have two days to come up with a gift. Hmmm, maybe I will give him something he can use one day for his classroom. I don't know. I hope I can think of something soon.
