Finding what we seek?

At times, it's very easy to become cynical with the whole online dating scene. I'm sure all of us have run across people who weren't what they seemed to be. It all makes me wonder though...

If we allow ourselves to become cynical and always look for the bad, then won't we just wind up finding problems with the people we deal with? (Kind of like a reap what you sow type of philosophy...)

Thoughts? :)

the key is... and it has been said here many times before.... to keep expectations LOW... I find OLD enjoyable and quite humorous with that philosophy... while I am very interested in meeting someone special, I find myself in the meantime, online engaging in what many accuse the men of doing which is chatting/emailing without ever intending on meeting, ghosting, etc ... not meant to be of harm to anyone ... but more as an understanding of the nature of the modality .. like meeting people in bars, etc. ... there are a variety of intentions there as well...

The more specific you are about what you are looking for -- the better you'll do. I've gotten to the point where no matter what the pic, if the profile doesn't match or indicate lots of positives - I'm not interested.

Never thought I'd get to the point of where bubbly, petite blondes would seem suddenly very un-interesting unless backed by some common interests...

Ha-Ha, LG, you finally got it! Forget those "bubbly, petite blondes." Esp. the young ones. Look for older, larger, darker-haired, less than bubbly women!!! :) :) :)

A class being offered locally has this in the description: "Thoughts are meant to carry out the thinker's desires and intentions, and do so by attracting similar thoughts, experiences and thinking patterns." (The instructor of the class is Carol Ritberger; she has books out, though I haven't read any of them.)
