First CL meet and new Ugh!

OK, met the first CL guy tonight. Oy. Not the most excruciating meet I've ever been on but probably top 3. Very much not my type - he's very much a techie-geek and I prefer a guy that's active and into sports but still intelligent and funny. All he did was yammer about work and technical stuff. He kept asking if I had this technical gadget or gizmo - TiVo, digital camera, broadband Internet, laptop, wireless Internet... on and on and on! I'm not a technical idiot, but I'm not on the cutting edge either - somewhere in between - I usually come into things a few years after they come out. It seemed to be his freakin' life. And he just wouldn't shut up! It started at 7:30 and finally just before 9, I escaped! And as I'm on the way home, he CALLED to yammer on about how he'd had a great time and thought I was very attractive, funny and intelligent and how he's very interested and to call him if I'd like to do something, blah-dee, blah-dee, blah! Oh and he kept talking about future activities that hopefully I'd like to do with him.

I don't know what to do now. I can't decide if I just blow him off at this point or write the brush off email. I had to come home and pour a glass of wine just to get over this so maybe after that, my mind will be clearer.

I vote for brush off email. Sorry to hear that you had to resort to drinking to actually get done with it! :o)

Many of us have all that technostuff, but no too many talk about it because it is just not that interesting. It's like asking if someone has toilet paper in their home.

I suggest a brush-off email.

I vote for the brush off email. He'll probably just keep calling if you try to ghost.

I'm sorry to hear that your meet didn't go well Vex. I'd send the brush off email if it were me.

Thanks all. Well, I didn't resort to drinking until I got home and then it was just a glass of wine to soothe my nerves. I was sorta OK until the call at 9:01 before I'd even gotten home - that was the kicker. We walked in the same general direction to a parking garage and he stopped in the street of the shopping center because he wanted to give me a hug. In his voice mail (I didn't answer when I saw it was him), he explained WHY he wanted to give me a hug (because he was so attracted and interested in me).

And yes, chamey, you're right. Technical gizmos are fine - we all enjoy them, but I don't like having hour long conversations about them!

Oh and the other thing, he kept messing up things I'd said, which I find annoying. Like I said I was going to go to the Caymans this summer and two minutes later he said something about when I go to Costa Rica. Ummm, no.

Anyway, I guess that's a big ol' NEXT. I did get 3 phone calls while on the meet all from other guys (2 from CL and one from eH) so maybe one of those will be a bit more bearable! Surely it can't be any worse.

Agree, I had a meet with a guy who's a SERIOUS audio/videophile and that's fine, but I don't want to hear about your equipment the whole time. What is it, an extension of their penis or something? ;)

Oh and we met at Starbucks and he said he'd thought about bringing his laptop but he didn't since he was meeting me. Golly, thanks. For now, I'm going to wait and see if he contacts me again. If so, I'll do the brush off email. Otherwise, I'm letting it go.

Well, I may be starting to lose my mind and I think some of these guys are ghosting on me. Teacher guy called Monday night and I responded via email Wed. morning because I didn't get the message until Tuesday and went out on Tuesday night. He's usually very good about getting back quickly - nothing. Good voice guy has vanished as has the guy that always said he would call but didn't. And one more that just recently contacted me and was pretty persistent - I returned his email from Monday on Wednesday - nothing. But there are still these few others, so we'll see.

I just got an email from a guy on eH that I was hesitant on (can't remember why now) to my CL post. I think I'll let that one go.

I'm still looking for the prince among the frogs too. He's got to be out there somewhere!! Maybe even just a duke or a viscount or something. ;-)

Actaully, they usually just send them to me and since I'm active, they haven't sent any in a while. There was someone that posted a coupon code though on a post that had a title about eHarmony a couple weeks ago.
