Full Figured and Online Dating
| Thu, 03-08-2007 - 11:29am |
I was wondering how those of you who are full figured deal with online dating. Do you go forward and say I'm attractive and that's all that matters ( which is the way it should be ), or are you like me and say I wish I could but I should lose some weight first? How do I change that notion in myself?

Damm Mark-how have we not met? What gym do you go to?-and we are both vegi-aquarium-though I am a vegi-aquarius actually.
This is so wierd odd strange that Mark and I have floated around a fairly small community in a larger city, within a mile of each other and with oodles of things similar.
He probably just never looks at redheads with little dogs, Or older women.
And speaking of vegetarian eating, I lost my weight following Dr John McDougalls Low Fat Complex carb vegetarian food program-not a diet because you need to eat that way for life. Though I am not quite as low fat as I was because muy body needed more fat in it if I wanted to keep muy hair and suple skin, still for losing weight there is nothing like it. First,, unless one is already a veg. it's a total change way of eating. No more doing portions of meat or trying boiled chicken when you love fried chicken. You get No chicken or meat. BUT lots of veggies. Now that organic vegetables are everyuwhere-and I even have them delivered to my door twice a month, you can doubly work on health while you take all the chemicals and artificial colorings out of your life. Contrary to what many other nutritionists say, vegetarian eating gives you sufficient protein to build the muscle when you work out. I know the trainer where I work out tells me I'll never rebuild muscle that I lost when I was recovering from surgery without good old red meat or protein supps but I am..those muscles were there before and will be back again soon-
I really do encourage women to try this form of weight loss-there is lots of soy which is good for most women, interesting to fix but has zilch in the calories unless of course it's covered in a fatening sauce. Most sauces I use though are ful of spice not fat.

I have been having great success on the South Beach Diet for the past few months. I could never ever ever be a vegetarian since I love meats, but I am learning to do without processed grains, added sugar & potatoes.
Even with me being close to 100% on plan & working out regularly, the weight is not falling off me like the first 100 pounds did. Now that I have about 20 to go, it's hanging on for dear life.
You know what, though? I'm beating guys off me with a stick & I'm a size 12.
Just put your pictures up there & let a guy decide if he likes a full-figured woman. When I was at my heaviest at about 250 pounds, I attracted a guy who was a dead ringer for a younger Hugh Grant. He loved my smile, sense of humor & energy. I ended up losing 100 pounds while dating him, but because I was already on a program to do it (I was 1 month in) when I met him.
There are plenty of attractive men looking for an attractive full-figured woman or BBW.
That's unacceptable Stacey! You should not be posting with your cl tags here... why I oughta...
Only kidding girl! Hey how about an update about your bf? I saw a quick one but I'd love some details. And did you lighten your hair? It looks great!
Not easy out there, is it?
I know!
You are right in many ways Mark. I have NO excuse for my weight except the "usual" excuses ... single busy mom, work nites, HATE excercise & LOVE food.
Aw shucks Rebecca *blushing*
I appreciate that for I do not want others here to compare or feel bad about themselves. I think my heaviness is where I was in my life, i.e. unhappy. I used food and alcohol to self medicate even though I was running fairly regularly. I use to run marathons (NYC was my last one) but I am trimmer today than I was when I was in my late 20s mainly because I'm happier (read: not married to my former spouse among other reasons) and eat healthier.
Being single and living alone helps as well for I eat what I want and when I want. I must admit my biggest influences were my younger brother who turned veg-aquarium when his exercise did not bring down his high blood pressure (he's single and ate out all the time) and my former girlfriend who is also veg-aquarium (as well as a Buddhist).
Yes being around others who are healthy reinforces good habits. When my children visit they comment how much they like eating healthy. I don't have desserts or processed food/snacks in the house and they don't miss it (13 and 17).
When I was out of work I focused on my workouts because I felt that was the only thing that I can feel good about and had plenty of time to do. It was something I could accomplish when my job applications were left unanswered.
