A few weeks ago I noticed that someone I knew had a profile up on OLD.

Yeah, you'd especially think he'd have thought to mention it when I told him I had lost half as much right off the bat. My best guess is that he didn't think he looked any different now.

You'd think if the guy lost 60 lbs. he'd want to post new pics to make himself more attractive--it's usually the guys who have GAINED 60 lbs since they put their picture up that don't change it.

Guys are so dense. I met my BF online, and he wrote me on a site I had been inactive at for several months. Since I had made the profile I had lost 30 lbs, but I had not put up any new pictures. When I wrote back I let him know, in the interest of full disclosure, that I had lost a fair amount of weight since my pics were taken, and I'd send him a new one shortly. Only because many of the men who had written me before had expressed an interest in full figured women, and I was rapidly becoming somebody who wasn't one. He said that wasn't an issue at all, as I pretty much expected him to. He also mentioned that he was trying to lose some weight himself.

His picture was only from his chest up, but based on what I saw I expected him to be about 50 lbs or so overweight, which was not an issue for me either. So when I met him I wasn't even sure I had the right guy. He looked completely different from his picture, but I couldn't exactly place my finger on why, though I had obviously misjudged his weight completely as he looked totally normal for his height to me. I kept trying not to stare at him with a furrowed brow while trying to figure out why he looked so different from what I had expected.

A few days later we were texting each other and I went back and looked at his picture on the site again. His face was definitely MUCH fuller which made him look radically different (I later figured out that his hair was styled differently too). I asked him how long ago his picture was taken. He said about six months. I asked him if he'd lost some weight since it was taken and he said "Oh yeah, about 60 lbs or so." *facepalm*

I find this hilarious. My ex from 2 years ago changed his profile on a game site to say he is 26 right after we broke up (he is going on 38). He had started dating a 24 year old and I guess he wanted to pretend to be closer to her age. Funny thing is, I am 7 years older than him but everyone always thought I was younger because he has done so many drugs and is an alcoholic so he looks used up and old. He sure doesn't look anything like a 26 year old!

I never lie about my age. Heck, I don't even wear much makeup (powder and eye liner, that's it) and I won't even wear a padded bra (false advertising). I am very much a what you see is what you get type of gal. Some men like it, some don't. That's fine with me.

Had that happen to me once. The picture on the profile was of an attractive, very fit guy on top of a cliff looking like he'd just climbed up it with his dog. The guy who met me at the restaurant was fat, balding and bore an uncanny resemblance to Tim Russert. I would not have recognized him in a million years so it was good he recognized me. Needless to say, I did not see him again after dinner. I saw him on another dating site and the picture was still the same but he'd added one that seemed a little more recent but it was from really far away!! I could see this portly little person in a ski suit on the side of a mountain.

A friend told me a similar thing happened to her--the guy's picture had shown him w/ his son who was a toddler & come to find out the picture was so old that kid was a teenager--so when she went for the meet, the guy looked so different (much worse of course) that she didn't recognize him either.

WOW...starting off with a misperception isn't good....I agree he probably wasn't getting responses with the bald picture but we both know what type of response he will get when he shows up for a date different than his picture.
