Golddiggers: How do you weed them out?

I just signed up for this new online dating site (as many of you know). On my profile, I have stated my occupation; I have a professional advanced degree. My question is, do you ladies (and men) list your degree on dating sites? Or do you leave that out? If I remove it from my profile, what is a good time to talk about occupation? The first date? The third, fourth?

I consider myself attractive and I'm kind, guys have complimented me on my personality. I just don't want to attract golddiggers.

Truthfully, I dont know what your advanced degree or job is, but unless you are making 3 figures - i wouldnt worry much about gold diggers. & i suppose common sense would prevail - do they take YOU out? Do they seem overly impressed by your money, car, etc?

I make more mula than most of the guys I date and am pretty darn independent, but so far, I like to think that if they are using me for anything, it's for my hot body and good looks. Kidding. Well, I never pull out my wallet on a first date, and I am a little old fashioned, but I also don't pull out the wallet in th first month unless it's the dude's bday. I will sometimes "act" like I am willing to cover my share, but the guy that allows me to pay my way the first month is nexted. Not 'cause I am a gold digger, but because I think the first month should be about the guy impressing YOU.

I generally will not date guys too far below my level of income b/c I have fantasies of wanting to be a stay at home mommy at least at some point, am very ambitious for my own future, and want an equal.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I agree with rlch. Unless you are pulling in the big salary or have a significant amount of family wealth, it doesn't seem to be an issue. Someone who is looking for a partner for money will usually target those with a lot of it and not just a 10-20K per year difference.

I'm hoping you mean 6 figures Rebecca since a person could only max out at $999 with a 3 figure salary... hehehe couldn't resist, so sorry. I'm sick in bed and my thoughts can be blamed on a fever... :o)

Awww thanks! How are you feeling now? After many cold pills and a lot of rest, I'm feeling more alive but not completely out of the woods. This thing hit fast too, very surprising...

I have degrees and a very good income and such, but I really, really try to downplay any of that on the first several dates. It's my strong belief that what counts is the attraction between two people, and you don't need to go to a fancy restaurant to sort that out -- in fact that can even be unhelpful. How wonderful to be able to hold some stuff in reserve so that you can keep impressing them. I never take my nice car on early dates, and try not to ever do anything too obvious. However I will always pay on the first several dates, that's just the way the ball bounces -- I don't particularly like feminists and I feel it's exceptionally important to allow for an environment where the woman isn't worried about a thing, least of all money, and can simply focus on being herself and having a nice time.
