Height Issues

Have any of you girls ever dated someone who was shorter/slighter than you were, and was it an issue for you? I met a guy I like in every way personality-wise, yet he is shorter/thinner than me. And I'm only 5'4", so he is pretty small for a guy. I don't know why I feel weird about it, since it seems so shallow to judge someone by their size. I've just never dated anyone smaller than me before. So I wondered if any of you all had, and how it went?

I'm sure you have pre-requisites that important to you, height just isn't one of them. Maybe you like guys who are college educated or enjoy particular hobbies. Those preferences really aren't any different from many of our preferences regarding height.

Also, I'll be honest, the weight issue does sting sometimes. But it's a reality for me. I live in SoCal where most girls are very very tiny. I'm about an 8/10 and while I workout with a trainer, I love food so I'm never going to be tiny. I have accepted the fact that quite a few guys in the age range I'm looking for are going to pass me by because of that. But I don't fault these guys for having their own personal perferences.

We all are who we are and are attracted to different body types for different reasons. Instead of attacking the idea that someone is turned off by a lack of height, perhaps accept that person for who they are and possibly learn how other people think.

I was thinking about this at lunch and came up with a similar analogy. What about age? Again, this is something that the person cannot control but many of us have preferences about the age of the person we want to date. I could meet the perfect man tomorrow but if he was 18 or 60, I think I would probably let that one pass! I have an age range that I generally look for and again, while I wouldn't automatically exclude someone because they were a couple years outside of that range, if someone was 10 years out of that, I would have similar reservations to dating someone that is significantly shorter than I am. We as humans have certain "hang ups" that some may view as shallow, but it is human nature and perfectly reasonable to have standards.

I totally agree with you. I'm 5' 7 3/4" and I'm not comfortable with anyone under 5'10" but I really really prefer 6 ft. I went out with a guy 3 times who was 5'8" (not!) and I just felt huge next to him. I start to picture being intimate with someone and crushing them!!!!LOL
