HJNTIY II on Oprah

I posted this on Guy Talk as well, but thought it would be fun to talk about here also:

Has Greg been reading our posts on Ivillage ;-)??? Here's a synopsis of what Greg talked about on today's show, which is definitely totally in sync with what many of us on these boards are thinking on these issues:

1. Asking "why" after a breakup is a waste of time; you get "closure" from accepting that it's over.

2. Date for at least 2 months before sleeping with a new guy.

3. Get real about what you want, and don't be afraid to ASK a guy what he wants...if he wants the same thing, it's all good, and if not, well, at least you'll KNOW.

4. If you want marriage and he doesn't, you either need to get to the point where you're ok with not being married, or end it.

5. Guys need to be up front about what they want (this in response to a guy who's been "busted" by the book) and women need to not think they mean something else or are going to change their mind or whatever.

6. If you're clear on what you want, don't accept less from someone you're involved with just because "he's a good guy".

7. Someone who breaks up with you over and over just isn't that into you...the fact that he keeps coming back doesn't *change* that fact.

8. Compromise is one thing, but if YOU are the only one making changes and/or sacrifices, HJNTIY.

Did anyone else see it (thank goodness for TIVO ;-))? Thoughts?

I forgot that was going to be on - so thanks for posting about it. What did Oprah have to say about it?

Mostly, "listen to Greg, women, he'll set you free!"...pretty much like the last time he was on!

That's such great common sense. Too bad most people ignore it. It's the whole "but my case is different" defense for most...

Yep...as I posted in this thread on GT, I think the single most important section of the book is the short one towards the end that says, "stop thinking you're the exception to the rule. You ARE the rule."
