Is Honesty Really the Best Policy?

Hello All:
I'm new to the online dating scene and while it's going pretty well, I find I need some guidelines and I'd like them from the feminine, experienced, point of view.
Do you tell guys that you are dating 'others'? Or do you pretend that this guy/date is the one and only?
Also, how do you play the phone game? Do you give your phone number? Home or cell or work? Or do you take his?
Thanks, ladies!
Signed,
Nervous Nellie :-)

No, I don't tell guys I'm dating others (unless he asks) but I don't pretend I'm not, either. I just don't talk about it. It's no one's business but mine unless I've had a discussion about exclusivity with one man and we've both agreed it's what we want with each other. The standard assumption is that we are both dating other people--but I don't want to hear about his dates, so I'm not going to tell him about mine.
I give out my cell number and ask the guy to call me. It's harder to do reverse lookup on cell phones so it's reasonably (although not completely) anonymous. I don't give out my home or work numbers until we've been dating for a while and I feel comfortable with him. I'm kind of old-fashioned and prefer that the guy make the first call, so I give him my number rather than taking his. I will also give him a couple of good times to call.

When a man asks you so how are your match.com dates going or other dates going what do you say?
I haven't really had that happen in a while, either, but if someone does ask how my dates are going, I just say "fine thanks" or something like that and change the topic.
