How many dates via OLD?

Since the beginning of time (the internet) how many people have you met for a date via the puter? These are in person only meetings- not involving online chat, webcam, email relationships, etc.

I realize this could be a hard question for many of us to answer!

Yet, I found myself thinking about that today. Since late 1998, I've met 11 people. Guess my online dating life has been fairly sparse, huh? To be fair, a few of these "dates" did evolve into long term relationships.

I couldn't even begin to count...but I'd say at least 50, probably quite a few more. I've been OLD'ing on and off since about 1998. Most of these have been one meeting wonders where one or both of us wasn't interested in seeing each other again.

I've counted 15, I could be missing a couple though. This is over a period of 4 years.

6 were one time meets that I was not interested in pursuing
5 were between 1 and 3 months dating
2 were 6 months
1 was a year
1 was a year and a half

I'm getting tired of online dating lately but it's just so hard to meet decent people out in a social setting anymore. For some reason, I always seem to come back to this outlet. I have met some really good guys (my last one this past month, but unfortunetly he wasn't over his ex) and some really bad guys. Knowing me, I'll continue looking online as well as RL.

Good question. Let's see I believe I started in 1999 or 2000 and met 9 or 10 guys; only 1 was a LTR - 2 years. Wow, guess it is pretty sparse. Gee, I had met a lady at a Singles Seminar who dated (or rather had meet and greets) 4-5 times a week consistently. She was Jewish and on a Jewish dating site -- maybe something to consider! (smile)

First, I want to say to Tea4All--I see that I have to give up my spot as (supposedly) the oldest OLD-er posting here!

Next, I feel much better after reading other people's actual dating stats. I thought maybe I was just throwing money away on the OLD sites. Actually, the past few months have been a waste of time, so I have gone inactive--there are so many other things I can do with my money! In total, in the past eight months I went out with 8 men I met through OLD and 2 whom I met IRL; there was only one I talked to on the phone and never met (too far away). I chose to meet in person men who seemed interesting and nice-enough looking, even if I didn't expect any sparks. (I'd spent too many years alone because I was waiting for sparks!) Nevertheless, and not so oddly, the two men to whom I was most attracted online were the two to whom I was attracted in person. Only one man did I see more than twice, and we have been together for several months. It's a case of really, really liking each other, but not seeing ourselves being together forever, due to our many differences.

In over a year of OLD, 3 dates. Only one led to a second date, and that didn't go any further.

In a year and a bit, met two people in person. One I then saw for a couple of months. I emailed with about 4 without getting to a meeting. Otherwise, dozens of useless winks back and forth.

Hi Y'all,

I was on OLD for about 11 months and went out with 8 men...8th time was a charm, as Tall Man and I are on our 3rd month and things get better all the time. We just got back from 4 days at Disney World--who says Goofy is for kids?! It was awesome!

Don't give up....go on about your life and make dating just a Part of it, not your entire focus. Meet only the men/women who meet your criteria, or seem to. Soon after meeting, you will see if they will actually meet that standard. Never lower your standards, you are Worth it!

Good luck on the Bar, Cali!

Truly,
Cupcake
