How many frogs 'til the Prince?

Hi,

Since joining Match.com last week, I have met two men. Both are definitely NOT candidates. Had they bothered to read the requirements as I stated in my profile, they would not have wasted their and my time.

I am already discouraged. I guess I'll hang on until the subscription expires. Any advice out there? Should I hang in there?

Thanks,

Bunny

ummmmmmmm, I'm guessing that there are loads of men who simply don't read the profiles, or skim them.

Someone told me the number was around 50, I think they heard that on Oprah but I can't be sure.

Definitely hang in there. I was online for two months and had gone out with 19 men before meeting the guy I'm currently with. He was the 20th guy I went out with and we've been together for three months. I have no idea if we'll make it all the way to the altar, but it's a pretty good relationship in many respects. Don't give up.

Oh, just wait, you'll get tons more of those! I too get a lot of e-mails from people who don't read my profile (or username, otherwise, they would see my 'real' e-mail address as I'm not a subscriber). I think a lot of people will first look at a picture and if they like it, I would think they would read a profile to see if they are compatible with you, and then e-mail, but most people, in my opinion, just shoot off an e-mail anyway, regardless of the compatibility. Although one of my now very good friends e-mailed me and started off by saying "I know we're not a good match but I really liked your profile" and we've been friends now for about 2 months, and we talk every day on the phone, hang out, he's totally not my type, but who knows, maybe you'll make a good friend out of the situation!

You've met two men in one week online?

Those are pretty good results, even if they weren't good candidates.

If you read through some of the older posts, you'll find folks here who've been on for YEARS, and meet maybe one or two people a month.. but not EVERY month.

Like everything, it takes time.

bunni---in my experience I have 3 or 4 bad meets to every one that is decent... I screen alot of guys out at the email /wink stage. I figure-- they dont read, and I had better...I have gone on plenty of meets where I was on the fence and the meet went well enough to see again. (and like wise there have been plenty where I am glad it is just coffee or a beer 45 mins max) Last week I had 3 bad meets and one GREAT 2 hour coffee...(we are going out again on thursday!)I have learned take some chances with the profile (my id on match is Rockpaperscissr) and then screen screen screen...
