Isn't a generation 20 years? I think it's up to the woman what she's comfortable with. Obviously, Catherine Zeta-Jones is comfortable with it. Michael Douglas is 25 years older than her.
I think it is 100% a personal decision and that you can't make a generalization. Some people are OK with dating someone 10, 15 even 20 years older. For me, I am 35 and I can hardly imagine dating someone over the age of 40. I know that I do not act 35 and prefer to have someone that would be more in my age range and have similar interests. Not that a 40 year old wouldn't, but my personal preference is to not date anyone that old.
I thought this was an interesting question but hypothetical examples (or Hollywood stars) don't do it justice at all. I prefer to read REAL WORLD accounts of women who refused to date a man they were attracted to simply because of his age OR women who ended up dating an older man because they were attracted to him. I have personally known women in their 20's who were dating (and will marry) men 20+ years older. The biggest age difference I have personally experienced is dating a woman 11 years younger than me.
I, personally, think it has more to do with the stage of life you're in than the actual years themselves. Have you both had all the children you want? Does one have grown children (even grandchildren) and the other still has little ones at home. Is one still in school and the other involved in his/her career. I'm not saying any of these things are deal breakers, necessarily, but I do think they're a more meaningful comparison than number of years. Just my two cents...
That’s funny – I was just having this conversation last night with a friend. Just recently turned 36 I thought how high or low should I go. What it all boils down to is a connection, attraction and shared values and goals. I live in an area where most 30 year olds look like they are in their 20’s and 40’s in their 30’s etc. My friend said 30-50 but for some reason 50 sounds old (to me where I’m at but hey, guess you never know right?).

My mom would say that if you listen to the same generation of music then you won't have 'generational' issues.
Well I'd imagine with 25 years they have some generational issues... not that they are huge or impossible to deal with.
Me either.
