How should I respond?
| Mon, 02-21-2005 - 5:26pm |
I just got a message from someone asking why I haven't responded to his emails.
As I've mentioned, until recently I wasn't a paying member. On the site I used that meant not being able to read emails - or even see who wrote them.
A few days ago I ponied up the cash and went through 91

Personally, I wouldn't answer this email either...but if you choose to, then block him, because he almost certainly WILL try to argue with you!

>>Do I just write, "Sorry, we're not a match?"<<
Exactly. You can then block him or not if you want. I wouldn't bother unless he starts trying to argue, in which case you should block him.
Of course, if you'd have answered his email the first time- aw, never mind. :)
But yes, if you feel the need, then just a one-liner "Sorry, we're not a match" is a good plan. You certainly don't owe him an explanation of how you weren't a paying member, yadda yadda yadda.
I would keep it simple and to the point as you said with something like we're not a match. I don't think you owe him any other explanations.
I never understand why guys who don't fit our search criteria even email us! It's like they haven't even bothered to read our profile at all! I know many don't read the profiles, but that would bring down their rejection rate, I would think, if they'd take a few minutes to read and not go by just a picture or two!
Also, what about the guys who are 10 or more years older than your criteria and write saying, "but I look much younger than my age" - yeah that changes my mind!!!
I went with "Sorry, but I don't feel that we're a match."
I then blocked him. He might not have chosen to respond but I decided to take preemptive action just in case.
...you never like my suggestions.
