ins and outs of plenty of fish

This is really a technical website question and I would prefer that no one tells me to move and and forget this guy. 

Is there a way to have your profile **not** come up in a search?  I was talking with this guy for 3 weeks or maybe just 2, but I've been on for months and it really has made me procrastinate with exercising and doing stuff around my apartment, so I told him I was going to cancel at the end of the week. He replied "I was just thinking the same thing."  So we exchanged contact info.  He's a cop and had pictures up when we started emaining, but then he made them private after we started talking.

We texted and talked almost everyday but all of a sudden it stopped.  He said he wanted to meet me but no talk about plans. He's a cop and has odd hours which are not the same every week. So maybe he sleeps during the day and works the night shift.  So because I am so insecure, I made up a fake account and did a username search for his account, but it's not even coming up.  Mine, however, comes up and specifically says "User closed account."  Do you think he still has it but made himself not appear in searches?  Is this possible?  I checked my profile settings and could not find it anywhere.  Thanks.
