The name of the dating service is called “it’s just lunch” (dating for busy professionals); has anyone here tried it? Curious.....

I am not sure how much they charge do you? You can check their website for information on the service. I wonder if you know what they look like before meeting them?

In Dallas it is quite expensive (I think a friend who tried it said $1500 for 10 or 15 lunches, I think). You do not meet the match before hand and I don't think you get "approval" or "veto" rights but I could be wrong on that. It is essentially a blind date. The guy she was set up with was quite good looking and the conversation was OK but she said after a while (they actually met for drinks not lunch), he went to the bathroom. When he came back, he had paid the tab, shook her hand and said "Thank you, I'm going to leave now. It was nice meeting you." So goes to show that an expensive service doesn't necessarily mean you will meet quality people - he just bailed, leaving her there. Whatever.

I see their ads in inflight magazines all the time. I don't know, I supposed if it helps you get out and meet people...pretty expensive, though.

Thanks for posting that link, peanut. Services like this one and Great Expectations get so many complaints and are so expensive that I'm amazed they're still in business. Granted, OLD is far from perfect but I'd rather take my chances this way.

When I lived in Boston, I joined a service called Lunch Dates (this was pre-OLD). It was a lot cheaper than It's Just Lunch ($300 for 12 dates) but the results were the same. The person who interviewed me was not the one setting me up on dates and the only thing my dates and I had in common was age. I was so relieved when my membership expired and when they tried to get me to re-up, I told them truthfully that I could get the same results for a lot less money from the personals.

Great Expectations called my house at least twice a week, I never knew what they were because they never left a message. My phone number is unlisted and I never signed up for anything in regards to them so finally one night I got sick of getting the phone calls so I looked up the phone number and it was a place in the Boston area, I called and left them a nasty message that I was on the do not call registry and if there number continues to show up on my caller ID and have them continually hang up on me when I answer or on my answering machine I was reporting them to the attorney generals office. Suddenly the calls stopped. LOL

A friend of mine here in the Raleigh-Durham area did It's Just Lunch. She paid a "discounted" $1000 and met 15 different men. Of these fifteen, there were two or three she was interested in. One was an alcoholic that used her as a booty call every 1-2 months(her mistake, and she admits it), and I think two said they wanted to see her again, then ghosted.

The rest either were not even general ballpark, and with some there was a
mutual agreement it just wasn't happening.

I think that once they get your money, they match you up with whoever. I agree, you can get the same or better results with OLD or just sitting in a bar at happy hour. It's disgusting how these services prey on lonely single people, promising them "quality" dates.
