It's raining men...

I've been meaning to post an update for a while...I'm still seeing musician/athlete and we have a great time when we do see each other but his time is limited plus he recently told me there's an ex in the picture he's not completely disconnected from (ugh)...so I've been making a big push to date other people. I'm doing a week free trial with Yahoo and have a couple potential dates from there, plus I put an ad on CL late last week and oh my!!! I have been a little overwhelmed with responses...I've weeded a bunch out already but still have about 8 who are "viable" at this point. I met one for coffee this weekend and we are going out again Sat night, plus I have 3 other first meets scheduled between now and Sunday.

I know from experience that many of these guys will drop by the wayside in the next week or so (and once we meet, I may well weed out some of them or vice versa) but at the moment, I'm feeling like my dating plate is VERY full, which is good. Hopefully there will be one good guy in the bunch who will go the distance...we shall see. But if not, I'm really thinking that a 90 day or so dating hiatus is in order come May...I will need one, I think!

Well, the back to back meets went ok. I was totally wired on caffeine, ha! I'm not sure I'm attracted to the first guy (he's one of those very fit but small and wiry runner types--I'm not really attracted to that build, probably in large part because I feel like an Amazon next to him!) but he seems like a really cool, nice guy...so we'll see (I'm not sure that I am his type, either). The 2nd guy was more my type, physically, but talked about himself WAY too much...I don't know if that was nerves or what, so I'm willing to give him another shot to see. He's already emailed me but hasn't set up a 2nd date.

More meets and dates this weekend (3)...crazy times!

I haven't done the back to back's in a while but the benefit is you do kill two birds with one stone!

Thanks...hopefully I will. There's one guy in particular I really want to meet so rather than putting him off until next week, I may see if he can meet for coffee tomorrow (my dinner date's not until 9 PM due to that guy's work schedule).

One of the guys I was hoping to meet next week just emailed me and said sorry, he got back together with his girlfriend...hmm, he just called me Wed night, pretty quick work! Oh well, I knew they'd start falling off like flies ;-).

Have a great weekend!

Oh, I have to laugh...I just got a little snippy with an endless emailer...I didn't quite say, "stop asking me stupid questions and just ask me out for coffee already" but it was close ;-).

My patience for that type of thing is just NOT good right now. But come on, "what's your idea of romance?"...in an email?? What's my favorite movie? Favorite food? Who the heck GIVES A RAT'S BUTT? Is that really going to determine whether we hit it off? Of course not!

Argh...I guess this is a good indication I need a good, long break from OLD after I work through this crop!!

I think some people are just looking for pen pals - I agree - what is the point? I'd say let's discuss over coffee, hint hint!

Ok, latest update...I'm feeling a little frazzled today so I chose that icon ;-).

No response from the endless emailer--not really surprised, of course.

The first meet last night was REALLY nice--dinner and jazz at a local club. He seemed like a very good guy...responsible, fun, polite...lots of good qualities. And he's nice looking, if not exactly my type. I will see him again but there are two things that give me some pause: 1, he's shorter than me which makes me unsure of my attraction level (although he's not as skinny as the first guy I met on Thursday) and 2, he has 4 children 14 and under (the number of children is a little intimidating to me).

I set up a coffee date for this afternoon but the guy bailed at the last minute due to car trouble...I was bummed because he's one of the ones I'm most interested in meeting. Hopefully he was sincere and not just blowing me off (I don't think so but you never know). We've tentatively rescheduled for Wednesday evening.

Have a dinner tonight--2nd date with a guy from last week and I'm having 2nd thoughts about him but I don't want to blow him off so I will go and see with as open a mind as possible.

But through it all I'm mostly just bummed out that things with musician/athlete are almost certainly not going to work out because I don't have the strong attraction and almost instant rapport with any of the guys I'm meeting the way I did with him. But all the great chemistry in the world doesn't change the situation...he is who he is, and he doesn't want me as his girlfriend (supposedly doesn't want a GF period, but of course the existence of an ex makes that less plausible) plus I can't really trust him because of the so-called ex situation. WHY does it have to be that way? That's a rhetorical question ;-)...I know life isn't fair...I'm just venting.

Argh.

Sherri- were you the one who was a size 12-14 as well- you posted that to me recently? If so, I am the same. & i am 5' 8". I swear, no matter HOW hard i try to NOT require it, i just want a man bigger than me. Taller, heavier, bigger. Period. I have met some really nice "petite" guys who were VERY good looking .... but i cannot get by the feeling that

Eh, I'm a little bigger than that...more a size 18-20 ;-)! And I'm 5'7", so like you, on the tall side for a woman. So yes, I prefer bigger guys...taller is nice, and I just like a guy who is built like a football player as a rule. The guy I'm having lunch with today describes himself as having a "linebacker build"...yum ;-). Of course who knows what he'll actually look like in person...but from his picture, he's definitely got the body type I prefer.

Of course the guy I really like has an amazing body...shoulders to die for (among other things!). Yet he really seems to be attracted to me...go figure. Sigh. I hate to have to give that up but what are ya gonna do??? (But don't get me wrong, I like him for many reasons OTHER than his body!!!)

Oh, I am *furious*!!!!

It's a beautiful Sunday here...and I drove 20 miles to have lunch with this guy...only to be STOOD UP!!! No call, no nothing. I of course tried to call him twice while waiting...but no answer.

I can't believe I wasted 1.5 hours of my day!!! Not to mentioned turned down at least 3 other invitations to do something today, because I had *made a commitment* to meet this guy.

Ironically, this is a guy who described himself in his response to me as "responsible" and having "conservative personal values". I guess those values don't extend to COMMON COURTESY!!!

Of course, I do hope he's ok...but unless he's dead or in a coma, there's no excuse for not getting word to me.

GRRRR!!!!
