I have been chatting to a guy on IM for the past 2 weeks or so- probably about 3-4 times in total. He always initiated the chat. I was wondering for a while why he hadn't asked to meet in person. Last night he asked me out to drinks or dinner. I told him he was too late, LOL (for me).
My question is, why do guys wait so long before setting up a date? I mean the other guys I've met pretty much asked to meet in person after 2 emails.
When I told him the news, he said that if things don't work out between me and the other guy, we should catch up sometime. He's not the first guy who's said that to me. I'm thinking, IF I contact him in that situation, wouldn't I look a little... desparate or something?
Just curious.

He may have been juggling other dates or a busy work schedule and didn't have time to meet until now. Who knows!!!
I don't understand at all why you think you'd look "desparate" if you contacted him if things didn't work out with the guy you're seeing. It's a very practical thing to say, IMO...most budding relationships DON'T work out so there's no need to be embarrassed if yours doesn't.

why dont you meet him just for friendship?? if you think he is interesting enough to be a boyfriend then maybe he is interesting to be a Friend?
Guys who ask to meet after few emails are expert in OLD. People who are not experts think that they should wait and get to know you better b4 you meet in person (this is the old fashioned way of OLD) I m more interested in this type of Online daters.
the Other type, Guys who seem to have a process in place for chatting/phoning and meeting and seem to be following a set of rules when they meet/walk you home/kiss on the cheek and pretend not to be interested in coming over to your place and trying your bed sheets :P ... are serial daters who have done it so many times it is not even funny. I met both extremes the only guy that I liked was someone who met 2 girls b4 me and was on Lava for 2 weeks when we met.
so he does not have to be not interested he may just be cluless
