Kinder, Gentler Board...

I've been seeing this phrase used in posts and I just wanted to clarify something (since I am probably one of the ones that is responsible for starting it all)...

I know we had a bit of an "issue" with some abusive posts... This does not mean that we now want the board to become stifled or restrictive in any way, shape or form. While we cannot defend any person who will abuse, belittle or make fun of a poster's issues, that does NOT mean you should bite your tongues to the point of not saying what you think.

Please, say what you mean and mean what you say. Do not bite your tongue or hold your thoughts. The beauty of this board is in its honesty. Just do all of it without being abusive. Personally, I do not want anyone to leave the board because they feel they cannot be heard. And I'm sure we all are in agreement on this. :)

I opened this post to your comments, concerns or questions so please feel free to reply.

Yes, anyone can report any post. The thread is reviewd by the CM, and that's who determines if it's abuse or otherwise violates TOS.

And IMO, certain CM's are very lenient with certain members, and not so much with others.

Just 2 examples:

A friend of mine got a warning because she said "no, you're not" to another poster who said "I'm not the board police". But another poster on that same board called someone a foul name, and it was never removed, even though it was reported by me and a few others. Okaaaaay.

<<>>

Don't you think that's a little too subjective?

I'm betting this whole thread gets removed as a board disruption. LOL

Hey there...even us "boring" posters would like to know what's going on with you...are you still seeing that guy? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news...

Still seeing that guy things are going incredibly well...going on 4 months now.

He is just wonderful!!! (so far). We are now getting to the part where we get to really see each other's quirks and so far I can't see anything wrong with him...LOL!

The posters aren't boring...the questions just seem to be the same.

I think this whole thing has been blown way out of proportion.

LG chose to leave. End of story.

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

I thought it was *supposed* to be a kinder, gentler board because one of the CL's had a "be nice" disclaimer as her signature for the longest time. Of course, that just makes me not want to be....lol. And I'm not! People do the craziest things and want some sort of "oh it's okay" - well, that ain't me. I give them credit for posting though. Some of the stuff I've read on these boards in the last five years (YIKES!) takes some guts to post.

I miss jh most. And I wish the guys would hang out here more. Great to have the flip side view of OLD.

KITB... I've missed your posts. No one is saying to be dishonest by being nice... basically all we were ever asking for is for others to not SLAM posters... But I can't remember

I agree that the board is getting a little boring, too.

Hi Knee's,

If by chance you were referring to my diclaimer that I had.....I actually had that on my signature..hoping that people would interpret that as being able to say what you want, without attacking anyone.

So a few of you have said that you feel the board has gotten boring... What are your suggestions on how to change that? Ideas would be most helpful!
