Maybe its b/c of my background - & please, I dont mean to offend ANYone here. But guys who write that they "do not drink alcohol", scare the hell out of me.

Why? Mostly b/c to me it means they are very likely a recovering/sober alcoholic.

I like the 20 questions approach. I agree it is more fun. Will you share all 20 questions?

I would not assume that the person would have trouble holding a conversation in real life if he does not type as well. I tend to respond "in kind" whenever someone emails me, i.e. give as much information as the other sends. Actually not, I give more so to encourage the emailer to reveal more about herself. I find it hard to continue any sort of e-conversation if the other is not as forthright in sharing more about herself.

Thanks for sharing your strategy.

I dated someone for way too long that said she 'drank', when in reality she abused the hell out of alcohol, and then proceeded to verbally, emotionally, and eventually, physically abuse me (she hit me once). So, one has to be equally concerned that those that state they drink may as well have alcoholic tendencies.

My 2 cents...

Well! Guess we got some discussion out of THAT one, ha? lol

Thanks to everyone who responded. It was a good dialougue. It opened my eyes to some things I hadnt thought of. I will say that i think what I will do is stay within my comfort zone of not contacting anyone who doesnt "meet" what I look for .... but if someone contact me who has the no drinking answer, & i am interested, I guess I will casually ask them somehow, if they dont drink at all, etc.
