match.com-ers beware

I had signed up for a one-month subscription on match.com. This was over 2 months ago. I just noticed on my bank statement that they are still charging me after the one month. Apparently you have to call and cancel officially after one month. I never recieved any telling me that my one month was over and I was being charged for another month.
When I talked with someone they informed me that it is in the terms and conditions. It uses the term "automatic renewal," which basically means that they are going to keep taking money from you until you call and tell them to stop!
I just can't believe that there was no notification. I didn't even know when my 30 days was up!
So be careful!

Bummer! I thought they made it pretty clear when I signed up that your card would be charged automatically every month until you actually cancelled, but then I'm a lawyer, so I always read the fine print pretty carefully ;-).
This is a good reminder...most OLD services do it this way.

Yeah, they do that because they know a lot of people will forget to cancel. And I've heard that even though eharmony gives you the option not to auto-renew, sometimes they do it anyway, even if you've checked that box.
You don't have to call match; you can cancel on the site. I've done it, and have cancelled other services online, like matchmaker and yahoo, and never had a problem.

It just sucks! Oh well, what are you going to do?!
Thanks for everyone's 2cents!
Wait, you can't cancel on the site? I thought I did?
Eh, guess it doesn't matter - I had to cancel that credit card after someone stole my social security number and card.
