Ok, so after taking the month of December off, I decided to turn my matches back on through EH.

I think that's a common misperception about Eharmony, that certainly hasn't been my experience or anyone else's that I've talked to about that site.

I would put a profile up

Hey, I've taken December off too and plan to make my profile visible again in January. I've been on match.com for two years...sigh...

I think sometimes we just need a break from OLD, or even RL dating. Sherri's right about the different dating sites: I've heard good and bad about both match and eH. I tried eH for a month and hated it. They kept sending me much, much older men, and at the time, there was no way to define an age range (maybe it's still that way?).

I had a profile on Plenty of Fish for about 9 months, and in my area, it might as well be called Plenty of Freaks. I had heard a lot of people on this board praising it because they had met their spouses and other LTRs on that site. But not me.

Your frustrations are common, I think. I too would like to meet someone reasonably attractive (after all, I'm reasonably attractive!) I'm not looking for a Hugh Jackman lookalike either...but yeah, that would be nice. Some people say OLD is a numbers game, but I personally find meeting lots of men exhausting. If I'm not feeling it, I say why meet them? I find it's so awkward cutting them loose.

My other piece of advice is to post really good photos. Get them professionally done if necessary (but NOT a formal studio portrait). I plan to change my photo when I make my profile visible again, perhaps this will make me stand out and look "new".

I agree with FloridaGirl--I dislike POF since it offered up a veritable buffet of desperate, horny men who only wanted to meet for sex OR could barely spell their name.

LOL!

I find many who are not doing OLD have this idea that it is incredibly fun, that you are going out with fascinating men all the time, having sparkling conversation, having the time of your life, like Cinderella going to the ball, no one's feelings get hurt.

But we know better!

Wow, makes me really want to dive right in there. lol What's holding me back right now is that I literally have no picture of myself that's less than 5 yrs old--my ex used to take nice pictures of me since he's into photography, maybe I should ask him? Not! The idea of having a professional do it but not make it look too posed is interesting but I bet that would cost a lot. It would also be nice to have an outdoor by the beach shot or something like that--not easy to do in the winter in the Northeast.

POF is crazy in my area. I havent met a decent guy yet from that site.
If your gonna try OLD again, maybe try okcupid.com. I have found a few good guys on there. Like match.com, they have questons you answer to try and best pair your with people with like answers, but its free (always a bonus).

IMO, OLD is just as stressful as meeting someone in a bar.
