I made a friend off of that once—she didn’t wink but wrote a letter saying she was looking to make new female friends and she was straight. We were friends for under a year/shared our dating war stories, compared notes on match, who to look out for or whom we met out and misrepresented themselves (fun actually, saves time)
I have this happen so often to me that I don't even mention it to my friends anymore. I would say I have at least one guy every 2 months (the last time was the grocery store) start a conversation with me in person that's gay. I haven't had one on match but I have had a ton on craigslist and on American Singles. I get a chuckle out of it and move on. It's even worse when I go out clubbing.
I had this happen on match once. She followed it up with an email about how much she liked my profile and how I shouldn't settle and wait for the right man that deserves me.
I would consider it a compliment. Even if though you're straight- think of it this way: Both men and women think your profile is great- nothing wrong with that. :)
This hasn't happened to me ever, thank God. Only because I think I'd freak out a bit if it did. Interestingly enough, my best friend is "bi" (even though I think she's really just completely gay), so it's weird sometimes when I can tell she flirts with me, because she says things that my straight girlfriends would NEVER think to say, so it kinda catches me off guard a bit.
Yes I have had a girl wink or email me before on the OLD sites. It is weird, and I have stated that I am looking for a man, not a woman, but they still overlook that I guess. Oh well... I just delete...

Hi Sparkle,
