My first meet!

Had my first meet last week. I had serious issues going into it because it took us two weeks to work out our schedules and he always seemed to call slightly past the time he'd say he was going to. The whole thing just had a kind of "He's just not that into you" feel. I told myself that I couldn't really blame him for not being all excited when we hadn't met yet, but I had a bad feeling about it anyway. We met and I really felt attracted to him. We had a lot in common and for my part, I think I was at my best during the date. For his part he was a little too much into himself and didn't really ask a lot about me. That was Thursday. On Monday I still hadn't heard from him so I just sent a quick e-mail saying I enjoyed our meeting and if he wanted to get together, let me know. He e-mailed back saying he really enjoyed meeting me but he had an issue he was dealing with. His ex-girlfriend has an imminent death in her family and he needs to keep his schedule clear in case this relative dies. I didn't respond. Give me a BREAK! Anyway, I'm getting the impression from reading the posts here that this is a pretty common thing. Do a lot of people go online to get dates so they can get back at some ex or make some ex jealous or whatever???

I think there is a good amount of people on these site to either rebound from an ex or get back at them. I went out with a guy who lived in one town but posted his city as another (well, he does have a vacation home there). He said it's because friends of his ex found him on the site and told her and she was upset!! WTF And he talked about her alot during out date. Next...
Unless your guy was extremely close with his ex's family, why should he keep his calendar open for this death!? That would be a huge red flag. I don't think I would contact him again.

I think it's fairly common, but in this instance, I think it's just an excuse...he thought it was nicer to respond to your email by making up an excuse that you'd see right through than say directly, "sorry, we're not a match".

My personal view and experience of the men on Online Dating:

1. Walking Wounded, trying to get over an ex
2. Socially Crippled
3. Looking to sleep around
4. Looking for a Fairy Tale woman

This is why I quit. There ARE good guys out there, but it seems they are so far and few between.

On behalf of men everywhere... OUCH.

Bad enough you've removed yourself from our eligibility pool, but you don't have to rub it in! ;)
