I think Yahoo's thinking is if you look at someone's profile but are "too shy" to write to them/send an icebreaker, maybe the person will see that you've looked at it and think, "Oh, cool - that person looked at me - I'm going to write to him/her."
I think the limited "canned" one liners or ice breakers, as they call them, are quite limited as far as a response to someone. I guess it is the web site's idea of enticing you into subscribing and e-mailing the person if you are interested. So far, I have not gotten any ice breakers from anyone I thought was worth subscribing for. In some ways, I also do not like the "Who's Viewed You" feature. That was one thing that make me very cautious when I was on Match. I was careful not to pull up someone's profile if I did not want them knowing I had looked at it. I guess it goes both ways, but all in all, I do not think it is a very good feature.
Speaking of Match, has anyone been active on that site since Dr. Phil has let his name be associated with it? I had hoped that there might be some re-vamps (for the better) now that he was supposedly involved, but I am not a subscriber. I have limited knowledge of how it works now.
LOL, I laughed outloud at this too. The coffee line is soo dumb! I also think the one that says, you caught my eye, how do you like to be contacted is silly...it's like, um you can contact me here thanks. I gues some prefer email, but whatever
I agree the who's viewed you thing is a bit depressing. In the past 7 days i've been viewed 111 times but i assure you not nearly that many people have written (: I dont see the point of it either other than to make people feel like, oh i guess i was ok to view, but not good enough to write to, what are all these people not liking about me? lol, boohoo. In reality they may have never planned to write in the first place...they could have been doing just that...viewing a profile.
