"I am a hard working mom with a good career and a bright future. My glass is more than half full. I’m down to earth, sensitive, caring and giving. I am looking for someone who has the same values as me, but not always the same opinions. I am petite, nice and have a friendly smile. People say I am cute but you’ll have to judge that for yourself. In addition to reading and exercising, my favorite activities include cuddling and kissing. It would be nice to find someone I could share my life and my heart with, but I plan on enjoying my life and maybe meeting some good friends along the way regardless of what my future holds."

I'm taking a suggestion from the website and reading other women's profiles on yahoo. This stuff is hilarious. The cutest women write the dumbest things (my experience thus far). Is it legal to post something hilarious that I read on there? If not, someone let me know. This one was normal until the end and the profile says this:
"...***FYI*** IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PICTURE POSTED, DO NOT WRITE TO ME...*NO EXCUSES* I WILL NOT RESPOND, PLEASE DO NOT WASTE MY TIME. IF YOU DO NOT POST A PICTURE, IT IS JUST ANOTHER WAY OF SAYING THAT YOU ARE "HIDEOUS" Repulsive, especially to the sight; revoltingly U G L Y !!!! Thanks :)"
LMAO.
Oh, my gosh! That's terrible.
Between things like that and the mostly psycho women on Hooking Up, I feel relatively normal ;-).
It's fine to post snippets of profile, just not someone else's username or screen name.

Here is version 2. I think it's still a work in process. It feels like it's too long, maybe there is too much information now?
"I am a Colorado girl who came to Pennsylvania by way of Arizona. I’ve been here seven years and it looks like I will be staying. I am a CPA, which can be boring so I try to make the rest of my life interesting to make up for it. I often to go to the library and will borrow any random non-fiction book. Recently I've read books on psychology, working class poverty and fossil fuels. I will read anything as long as it’s well written and something I want to learn about.
"I’m outgoing and I am comfortable mingling a party, but I’m just as happy to stay in for the night and rent a movie or play a board game. I travel several times a year to see family or friends. I can be a plan-ahead organized traveler or make a last minute decision and just go. My last minute trips are usually to Boston. It’s so easy to get there, all you have to do is get on the highway going north and follow the signs.
"I enjoy exercising. I usually lift weights (not very heavy weights) but sometimes I will take a strength training or kickboxing class to keep it interesting. I have been known to go rollerblading on a nice day. I don’t do it every day and I’m fit but not really athletic. I try to eat healthy but I’m not a nutrition expert by any stretch of the imagination. I can cook but I need a recipe to follow, and I enjoy cooking for others more than cooking for myself. I enjoy eating, either at home or in a restaurant.
"If I want to see a movie and can’t find anyone to go with, I’ll go by myself. The most recent movie I saw by myself the theater was full of women and maybe two men who probably didn’t want to be there. I think if you are going to spend the money, you should want to be there.
"I am looking for someone who has the same values as me, but not always the same opinions. I enjoy a good debate on just about any topic. If I don’t have an opinion on a certain topic, just give me a few minutes and I’ll come up with one.
"It would be nice to find someone I could share my life and my heart with, but I plan on enjoying my life and maybe meeting some good friends along the way regardless of what my future holds."
Here are some other funny snippets from other profiles:
"Mom of one trying to find someone in it for the long haul."
"The Girl Next Door who also happens to be the BEST THING EVER!"
"I'm new to Internet..."
"I'm looking for a faithful man that knows how to treat a woman right, that can get down and dirty, and doesn't mind going out for a nice dinner."
"Dislikes: know it alls, bad drivers, people who are unkind to the ederly, the unfortunate, chilren and/or animals, beets, a run in my pantyhose, realizing I need glasses, waste, bad wine, people who are afraid of what others will think, ferris wheels, clowns (eewww, I just got th' willies thinkin' about um!), and again, beets!"
And later in the same profile "Do you belt out songs in your car? Have you ever skipped for no reason? Do people call on you when they are in trouble? Would you help a stranger in need? Are you kind to the elderly, the unfortunate, children and/or animals? Do you hate beets? Will you kitchen dance? Are you a wino? Can you make me spew my drink by your uncanny wit? Is it ok that I'm not perfect? Are you ok that you're not perfect? Ya' got nice hands? If you answered yes to a majority of these questions, why not shoot me a line? We probably have some common ground... "
"I want to be awe struck, like really wowed"
"DISLIKES: Liars, cheaters, jealousy, insecurity, judgemental people."
"I put on no airs about myself and don't want someone who does. Please, no pretentious tight asses!"
Same profile, describing what she wants in a man: "If you have issues with committment or relationships, are emotionally unavailable or unstable, have hang-ups, are a serial killer or a hitman-for-hire, please, DO NOT respond. I don't need the drama." and "He'll be able to stand on his own two feet and isn't a Mama's boy! If what you're looking for is a maid you got the wrong girl! He wants a committed, deep, emotional relationship."
"by the way.... I'm normally smiling!! I just took this picture of myself to have a current photo. It's hard to fake a smile."
"In closing, If you are not looking for the same thing I am, then I guess you need to move on to the next woman."
"I have resorted to the personals because I am still searching for Mr. Right."
"I am a bit nervous about this online dating thing - but there just doesn't seem to be a good place to meet people these days."
"I think I'm shy but my friends say I am a fun loving party girl."
"Hmmm let me describe myself...Curious, sexy, experimental, daring and unconventional as well as caring, nurturing, creative, artsy and a bit clutzy. Sometimes I'm even flighty; however, I'm quite intelligent. I'm a collaberation of so much..."
"I'm not a party animal, rather more the domestic type. Can you believe that I actually enjoy folding laundry?! LOL I love to cook though I must say the finished product is rarely edible. But I enjoy the challenge!"
"I am the kind of woman that you will WANT take home to your family!"
Same profile: "I would expect that you have no diagnosis of Agoraphobia, or and such disorder in the DSM"
This was in someone's list of top 10 reasons to contact her: "7. Because, who are we kidding, you contact everybody! (Not that there's anything wrong with that!);"
Well, at least she said thank you!
Do you think maybe perhaps she had a few *hideous* OLD moments? LMAO
Your profile is really shaping up!! Here is my take:
"I am looking for someone who has the same values as me, but not always the same opinions. I enjoy a good debate on just about any topic. If I don’t have an opinion on a certain topic, just give me a few minutes and I’ll come up with one."
this paragraph equals *argumentative chick* (in man-speak). Take out.
" The most recent movie I saw by myself the theater was full of women and maybe two men who probably didn’t want to be there . "
I will read anything as long as it’s well written and something I want to learn about."
A perfect paragraph!!
I think you sound very nice and should get a lot of attention.
How about those pics? Do you have the standard 3 (close up, full body, can't remember what the third one is for, maybe action?)
Good luck!!
amjay
Thank you for the suggestions! I'll be working on the pictures between now and the weekend. That part is hard. I look so much better in person, but obviously I can't say that in my profile, lol.
This is how the movie paragraph now reads:
"I love going to the movies, either with a friend or by myself. The most recent movie I saw by myself the theater was full of women and maybe two men who probably didn’t want to be there (perhaps they were first dates)."
