"I am a hard working mom with a good career and a bright future. My glass is more than half full. I’m down to earth, sensitive, caring and giving. I am looking for someone who has the same values as me, but not always the same opinions. I am petite, nice and have a friendly smile. People say I am cute but you’ll have to judge that for yourself. In addition to reading and exercising, my favorite activities include cuddling and kissing. It would be nice to find someone I could share my life and my heart with, but I plan on enjoying my life and maybe meeting some good friends along the way regardless of what my future holds."

And I would counter that with "men only want under-30 barbies". The net is full of all kinds of people. It does no good to become a bit bitter.

Stay positive, hal. There are good people out there, it takes time and patience to connect with them.

True. I'm not really bitter but it is mostly women who say that "looks don't matter, it's the personality that counts". I read an article about a reporter who tried OLD. He was similar to me in all aspects--rated himself about a 7-8 in the looks department, had a good job..etc. He said he averaged about 1-2 e-mails/week. He then replaced his photo with one of a male model from an online clothing catalogue and suddenly he was getting over 20 e-mails/week! Some from women who ignored him the first time.

A fellow I know had about the same response rate. Then, for an experiment, he changed his career to "doctor" and upped his annual income another $50,000 and became VERY popular! He was quite disgusted with the whole OLD experience.

I agree with amjay. I would be thrilled. I have that I love hockey in my profile and you don't know how many emails I get saying "Do you like any sports" it's apparent they didn't read my profile or they would have known I was a rabid hockey fan.

So if someone took the time to comment on my profile I'd write back as well.

I'm not a big fan of adonis, I like a guy with a little belly on.

LOL, I would date quasi modo so long as he is very very intelligent and not FAT.
There is nothing on earth as sexy as a man who can hold a conversation on almost any topic. especially contemporary world socio/political affairs. Oh my knees are weak thinking about it. adonis or no adonis I love whats between the ears.
As for that post of Hals it would get a reply from me also. An excessive interest in 'me' and all that getting to know me I find very boring. throw me an intellectually stimulating chin wag and you are my man for ever and ever and ever.

So even if you can tell from his post you are a not a match, and even if his profile had things that are red flags to you, the intellegent sounding email would get you?

His email as he posted to you would have gotten a reply from me. there was no red flag on it. there was nothing on the face of that post of his that would have been a turn off for me. Dont forget that you did not include a profile, your not replying was not based on a profile was it?

As I stated before, my decision to reply to his email would not be based on the email alone.
