This is the second time I've gotten one like this. Has anyone here ever gotten one and responded? (It came from a woman -- her match.com photo/profile was linked to the email)

"My name is C--- and I am not the one who found you! My great friend John is here with me and saw your photo and you guy's fit!
He's a great guy and one of my best friend's.
Let me know"

I'd treat it as "no profile" and tell them to have "john" create a profile and you'll take a look. And send a pic while he's at it -- if he isn't going to post one.

Excellent advice, LG. Thanks. I've gotten burned before by the no photo dudes.

I was approached IRL like that once in a club - a girl came up near where my friends and I were dancing and started dancing with us. She started talking to me and then her brother or friend or whatever he was came over and started dancing with us too. He then started hitting on me - but he'd kind of sent her in as recon. But I have never had it happen on OLD! What, he can't write you himself?? He is either really shy (maybe kind of a nerd?) or this chick is trying to find him a date and he is not all that into it. In any case, it sounds really strange. Stay away from that one! :-)

I had a GIRL respond to me (with her profile attached) saying she was writing on behalf of a male friend of hers who really wanted to meet me.

He had replied to me in my newbie onslaught and got buried... I looked him up after I got her e-mail telling me what a great guy he was and we ended up going out a couple of times.

But I agree with lg; something's fishy about yours.
