Hi from a newbie! While I've joined a few threads, it occurs to me that it might be rude to just jump in without introducing myself. I'm divorced 5 years now, and recently out of a serious relationship that turned out to be no good for me. So here I am trying to make some sense out of being a single mom, just turned 40, and dating again...yikes! It really helps to know that I am not alone, and the advice on these boards has been great! So thanks everyone, & I look forward to seeing you all on the boards.

Welcome! I really liked how you jumped right in and made yourself at home. That's awesome! Hope you have fun here and maybe get some tips to make OLD easier for ya.

OLD is still weird to me after 4 or 5 years. I don't know if it's me or the process. I have gotten so nonchalant and ambivalent about it (so as not to get hurt) that I think it may not work in my favor anymore.

But then I get bored on weekends and get back on there. I think I'll decide it's an awesome way to meet men when I meet an awesome man....lol.

LOL how true...if I meet someone, I'll tell everyone to hang in there, that I did, and I met someone :) Right now, I'm still fighting burnout...I think the ones who are successful are the persistant ones who do a lot of sifting through the losers, who have thick skins, and are willing to put in the time to play the game of numbers....the more people you contact, the greater your chances. I just haven't developed that "suit of armor" yet....I'm disappointed every time a contact doesn't work out...which everyone knows, is MOST of them!!

I'm staying with it though, because it still seems like a good way to meet people, especially for a busy single mom!

Welcome to the board! We're always happy to have a newcomer. Feel free to jump in on any of the threads. You'll find a good range of advice here and a lot of posters with years of experience. Ask questions, share your thoughts, help others... it's all good. :o)

And we also have a chat on Monday nights at 9pm EST so feel free to join that as well.

See you around the boards!
