Never mentioning someone's name?

After exchanging 5-6 emails online and talking on the phone once, it's a bit disconcerting that at no point (written on spoken) has the guy referred to my name? Am I an egotist? Or does he have a lack of social skills? Don't you think that's a bit strange?...Also, he made a date with me which he cancelled the morning of with the excuse that he's too tired from packing for a trip. Now he's back and wants to set another date and again, made no mention of my name, as in "Hi So&So,...." Of course he signs his name, which I refer to and I sign my name. Well, I'm just confused. Any opinions?

Well, I'll admit that I rarely say "Hi, So-and-so" when I begin emails, so no, I don't think it's a bit strange. Makes it seem too formal to me.

That would turn me off. I think basic salutations addressing the other person's name are rather important. A while back, I was exchanging emails with a guy who would never start off with more than "hey" and wouldn't even sign his own name at the end. It was off putting.
