New there! I have been chatting with a guy for a month now. Since the conversion is going well (through email and phone conversion). We decide to meet. Well, does anyone of you check the person's background before you met the person.

Well, we all know that online meeting people -- with other people on the net. things aren't seem real unless you meet him for real. I have read the article about dating losers. He seem to fall into one of those red flags.

Do we have any successful story?

Hi pizza and welcome to the board!

There are definitely some success stories around here, as well as some not-so-successful ones. No matter what you read/hear, remember: Just because Online Dating does not work for one, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work for you.

As for the background check, I personally don't see the point in it. If you are meeting a guy where you feel you should be checking his background, then maybe you shouldn't meet him? Just make sure your first meet is safe. Have it occur in a public area to which you drove. Do not go anywhere alone with him until you know what he's about. (And that rule applies to any person you meet.)

Glad to see you on the board. Feel free to browse around, read some of the old posts and also feel free to stop by as often as you'd like. Good luck with your first meet and hope to see you around!

It doesn't cost anything to do a quick google on his name.
