I just signed up for Match.com. The profile of one guy who e-mailed me was "hidden". When he e-mailed me again, I clicked on his picture and the profile is not hidden anymore. What does this mean?

Plus, when he e-mails me, it is all in capital letters. What is up with that?

Is this guy a player? Should I "remove" him? How do I tell if someone is a player?

Any words of wisdom for a newbie?

Thank you,

Bunny

The Profile "hidden" and then not could just mean that he realized it was hidden AFTER he emailed you, and "unhid" it so you (and whomever else he had emailed) could see it. When people stop using OLD (either to take a break or b/c they found someone), they hide their profiles. He could be returning for whichever reason, and forgot to unhide it.

The all caps is usually just a matter of being lazy. Whether I write the guy off for it or not depends on the actual text. As a general rule, I don't respond to poorly written messages (though I can differentiate between "poorly written" and "English as a second language", and judge accordingly). I'm a professional writer/editor and have very little patience for people who do not know proper English. (I'm not so insane that I expect no dangling participles, etc, because that's just casual American speech. But wrong words, using "I" instead of "me", etc... NOPE)

So anyway, this is a long rambling way to say ... It's your call. How much does it bother YOU?

Hi,

Well, something just doesn't "feel" right. He did tell me that he hid his profile because he didn't want anyone around here to know that he was on Match.com. Then, voila, his profile became unhidden.

I usually go with my gut instinct, i.e., this guy is a LOSER.

Oh, yeah. Sounds like he's probably married or involved with someone he met on OLD and doesn't want her to see he's looking again.

Instincts are vital in OLD. ALWAYS trust your gut!
