New--questions about yahoo

I have done match, but yahoo seems a little different. I sent a couple emails yesterday, and I got canned responses from the guys. Is this most likely b/c they are not signed up or just lazy? I signed up, so I don't know if you can send a response if you are not a paying user. In your opinion, should I tell them my email address or do you all try to only communicate w/paying users? I don't want to limit myself, but at the same time...why do I have to be the one to shell out the dough? :-)

If you put in your e-mail address and it goes to a non-paying user, the program blocks it out. So what people do when they want to communicate an e-mail address to a non-paying user is to write something like, "If you want to contact me outside this site, I am Mary Me Soon (all one word) where the mail is hot."

I have mixed feelings about this practice. On the one hand, it's good to get a different way of communicating. On the other hand, if they are not members, how committed are they likely to be to dating?
