New Tactic for yahoo

I recently placed a new ad on Yahoo personals as a non paying member. Figured I'd scout out the prospects before I paid...its not the first time I've been on there but it has been a while. This morning, I recieved a reply from a 48 y/o male in a town 2 hours away saying he doesn't have a personal? I've never heard of this. Is it now possible for just anyone to write into the personals? without placing an ad? Sounds like a new tactic to get you to join. Just wondering.

It's definitely possible with yahoo (not sure about the other sites). I'm seeing a guy who responded to my yahoo ad even though he had no profile. I had no idea either that you could do that.

So, as long as I have an ad on Yahoo, and do NOT have a subscription, I can not contact anyone accept through winks, BUT....anyone without an ad can contact me? Sounds REAL messed up! Also sounds like I need to delete my ad.

Jeanie,
Here's what I do on yahoo...works much better. I'm a member and you can make your profile "non-searchable", however, you can email people and they WILL see your profile. So, someone just browsing through the ads won't be getting im's from all over the place.
The only thing with this method is obviously you have to be the initiator...if you're comfortable with that. I emailed a few guys and got responses from all of them. Been emailing a couple back and forth...spoke to one of the phone, so we'll see what happens. But, for me...this way you have all the control.
Just wanted to let you know about this option.
