Ok, another question for everyone

I'm sitting here laughing at myself because I am either premenstrual or just really grumpy today. But here's my issue:

I was browsing through the "matches" of mine on the website that I belong to, and am finding that a lot of guys have pics of themselves with what is obviously a woman, but she is hacked out of the photo. You can still see some hair, or a shoulder, or whatever, but he took the time to chop half of her body out so no one can see her. NOW, I understand what he is aiming for, and that's fine, to be courteous or whatever for insecure women who want to believe that this man has never dated anyone else in his entire life. But c'mon...aren't we all adults here, and can't we all just accept the fact that pretty much everyone above age 16, if not younger, probably has photos of themselves with a date of the opposite sex?

I'm not sure why this is bothering me so much, other than I feel like the guy is already trying to be secretive, and I haven't even met him. I guess I'm secure enough in myself to know that he has had past relationships and there's probably going to be evidence of it. Why do some guys feel the need to be so sneaky? (Yes, there is an underlying issue that goes along with this, but this was the icing on the cake tonight I guess).

Thanks for listening, just mostly venting again. Must have been that 12:30 a.m. phone call that made me grumpy today! lol

I have put pics on my profile before with the guy cut out of them. I don't want anyone prejudging me or themselves by who I've dated in the past. None of their beeswax. I think it's perfectly normal and the right thing to do.

I agree it's normal, and I'm not sure why it's rubbing me the wrong way today. I guess maybe I just feel like these guys need to find other pics to post then. For example: one guy had 5 pics in his profile, all good shots of him. Was there really a NEED to put this one in there with the woman hacked out of it? I don't think so. I think we can get a pretty good idea of what he looks like from the other 4.

UUUUGGGHHH, I think I've just had enough of OLD for this month! lol

My only problem with women being cut out of pictures is that I start wondering, "What does she look like? Is she prettier/skinnier than me?" I know that every man my age has dated someone, but it makes me feel like I couldn't measure up.

Personally, I don't use pictures where I have to cut people out. I do use a picture of my brother and me, but everyone seems to assume he's my brother. He's in uniform and so I use that one to weed out the people who are anti-military and wouldn't fit in in my family. Other than that, I don't even use pictures with other men.

Actually I find it 'tacky' when people post pictures with other people shaded out. If a poster can do all this shading; why not make it neater and crop the person out. That's what I did.

I totally understand about trying to post nice pics and sometimes those moments are caught when you are being photographed with other people. Folks would fare better by cropping then using shading or drawing crooked lines through the other party (yep, seen that too).

I totally agree, when you have 4 or 5 other shots, then what is the point of showing a pic with someone shaded out!

No joke, I had a guy email me one time who, instead of cropping the girl out of the picture, used Miscrosoft Paint to scribble a messy orange blob over her face.

I know, I have a few really good photo editing programs that have features that allow you to completely remove things from photos altogether.

I would guess that most people don't have the sophisticated tools though and the cropping is the best way to do it.

I agree, it's tacky!

IMO, if you can't do it right (i.e, so there is NO evidence of the other person left), then don't do it at all...use other pictures.

Well, if anyone would like me to do some photo retouching for them, I'd be happy to give it a whirl.
