Hi everyone!!!!!

Yep, I'm still alive and kickin' up here in Maine. I am turning into a fuzzy piece of mold with all the rainy, damp, grey weather though. Ugh. I have been checking the boards and lurking for a few weeks now and I owe you all an update with my OLD escapades. Hang on to your hats folks, ladies sit down, because I think I have a SUCCESS STORY!!!!! YEP!!! YIPPEEEEE! Woooohooooie!!!!!

Right after I got back from my trip to Jackson Hole last month, I began emailing with a guy who contacted my through Yahoo Personals. I had a profile posted there (an exact copy of my Match one) but was not a paying member. He initially emailed me and I sent back two icebrakers. One in response to his email and the one freebie the system would let me send. I was hoping he would figure out that I couldn't email his through the system! He did and he sent me his personal email and the fun began. We emailed a bit and then spoke on the phone a couple of times. By Friday of that week we met for coffee late in the afternoon, with the agreement that if we were having fun and things were going well then we would grab a bite to eat and just enjoy the date/meeting.

WELL LET ME TELL YOU....that meeting was AWESOME! I only went in with the hope that he please be just half as funny in person as his emails seemed to be and that he be at least half as cute and tall as his pics and profile stated. Forgive my silly cliche here, but when I walked into the coffee place, even though there were other people there, our eyes locked right onto each other and HUGE smiles broke out. IT was AWESOME!! I have NEVER in my 35 years had such a reaction where my breath was taken away like that and all I wanted to do was simile and laugh and felt so happy just meeting someone. He was everything in person that he seemed to be on the phone and in emails. When the coffee was done and the conversation was still just rolling along, no awkward pauses, no searching for things to talk about, we went across the street to grab a bite to eat. I was laughing a TON (and I mean real throw your head back LAUGHING, not just shy giggling from nervous energy), and we were covering a ton of different topics. After dinner we let the dogs meet (we both have the same kind of dog!! ACK!) and then sat in my car watching the water and talking for almost three hours!!! THREE HOURS!!!!

Now, I know that is an unusual and ill advised approach to a first meeting, but we were having a blast! We were both amazed at how easy it was to talk to each other and tell stories and discuss just about anything.

Since then it just keeps getting better as we spend more time together. I didn't come here with questions or to check in because I felt no confusion of second guessing about anything that was going on. We have discussed what we are looking for in a relationship, and the friendship necessary for a relationship to even begin...we're enjoying the beginning of learning about all the things we have in common as well as our individual interests and philosophies. We have filled each other in on past relationships and the ups and downs of what we have learned from those experiences.

I am a smitten kitten!!! SMITTEN KITTEN I tell ya and it feels great! I don't feel out of control or scared or anything like that. He is clear in his intentions with his actions and his words. Is this a forever thing? Who the hell knows! It is, though, a good thing and I am happy. I look forward to growing with this man and know he is looking forward to doing the same with me. And laughing (did I menting that he is funny and gets my sense of humor?!?!) I would never have thought I would find something like this with OLD, especially with all the lame guys I have met along the way. I was beginning to think that it would be ok to just meet someone that was good enough...sometime...someday.

So there ya go! That's what has been going on in my corner of the world. I may have found a best friend and it feels great! I know, I know...we're still in the goobie phase and all but even if it blew up tomorrow I would consider this man worth the experience.

Sigh (a happy, contented one...not a lonely one). Let this be a "pick-me-up" for anyone getting frustrated out there. Just when you seem to give up on this whole thing something or someone just may surprise you!!!! :) :) :) :)

He does have a younger brother, but the selfish guy got married last summer! Sorry honey!

The morning after our first meeting I went home and deleted/resigned my profiles on both YP and Match. I told him about it a few days later and explained that I did it for ME and whether he removed his was up to him...I wasn't saying he had to do the same or that it needed to be an issue at that point. I just wanted him to know that I was willing to just explore what we had going on without looking around for anything else. That weekend he brought me over to his computer to make me watch him delete his profile.

I wish it worked this way all the time, for all of us.....because this feels awesome. HANG IN THERE!!!!!

thanks, Holly! where the heck have YOU been? I haven't seen a post from you in a while...

Just a few more weeks I think before we sign all the papers on the business! Thank you for remembering. I got cold feet for a little bit just trying to turn off the tape recorder in my head that was saying "WHAT are you DOING" so I submitted my business plan/financing request to the bank only recently. Keeping my fingers crossed that theywant to give me lots of money. For free. Because they like me and my dog is cute (can you use an animal as collateral? LOL!)

Congrats xriver! Good luck with both the guy and the last few details of getting the business started. Spring is a good time for both of those things!

Congrats XRG! That was nice of you to come back and let everyone know that there is hope. I am also in a fairly new relationship from OLD and don't know where it will lead, but I am definitely enjoying it along the way!
