After four years and no relationship, I have let my match subscription run out. I may go back to it at some future date, but right now I just feel burned-out and somewhat demoralized about it. Let me just say that I am not knocking OLD--when it works, it's great. You do actually meet men.

Lol...I'm sorry it hasn't worked out and I agree with you completely. I randomly scour the sites for new members but not really actively pursuing OLD. I did it for many years myself and found myself feelingost of the same way you do.

I haven't given up entirely but it no longer is a priority. The cats aren't a bad idea but has its own issues itself. Lol

I have to say that I always feel a little better when I can take a few days off from OLD.

All good points, Music. I will say that while I was doing OLD and when I would go on meets, I was certainly open and a good sport--it even got so that it wasn't that bad meeting total strangers. I doubt any of the men would have thought I was putting up a wall. And in real life when you meet someone, there is usually a context around why you are meeting them: you're at a party of mutual friends, you're working on the same volunteer committee, etc. And yes, of course, you could go out on a few dates with someone you met that way and find out you weren't a match.

I disagree about it being personal...if you met once and they didn't call again it's either they didn't feel a spark (not sure if men truly make decisions that way) or it's superficial (by their standards they judge by looks). None of that truly represents who you are in it's entirety so it's not personal.

We have to stop taking that part (I say we because you aren't alone) so seriously. I've gotten to the point that I'm grateful they didn't call back because the right one will. We just need to be patient and open.

I think I also don't like the EH format--it really doesn't provide a lot of info, compared to match or POF where people can write as little or as much as they want.

Hi;

I think when one does OLD you have to grow a thick skin of sorts.. I mean there is so much rejection and it can hurt one;s feelings.. but it will sting for a bit and then we move on to the next one.

I know its easier said than done but it can be done.. Just have to look at it less seriously and the longer you are on the less it hurts. I do see alot of guys who appear set in their ways though .. that is the old aging process.

Its def. luck of the draw and work to keep looking at profiles and searching and muddling through.. Yesterday I had two guys IM ing me.. One looked okay but he said I will be right back I have a customer.. So I looked at his profile and it said that he worked in a store.. He was also shorter than what he said.. So I talked to him for a minute and then I left.. Another guy was in the military and had a mean hard stare. I guess they just have nothing to do and want to bother me since I was just surfing arouind.

Oh; I still have a few cyber stalkers on POF that I have now blocked.. I absolutely find that nuts because what is the point. People are so weird and Its probably a blessing when men ghost.. They probably werent right to begin with..

I had a guy about two weeks ago who ghosted. He looked pretty good and we talked and then as soon as I gave him my number to call me he ghosted.. What the Heck!!

Don't you wonder how people could have moved around wearing that?

If you are into that stuff, there is actually a museum of armor in MA.
