OLD update

Just wanted to give everyone an update. A lot of new people here since the last time I posted :-) and for all the new ones, a brief history: I started talking with a guy from Lava back in February of this year (great guy) went on a few dates, normal OLD routine watching for "red flags" not keeping all the eggs in one basket, etc, etc... In April we began dating exclusively. Some of you will remember my posting about all this and the whole six dates before we had a first very romantic kiss (very exciting). Well, I wanted to let everyone know, I am officially an engaged woman now :-) thanks to OLD. We are in the very beginning stages of tenatively planning a wedding for next May, in Florida and we are very excited. I have found the absolute best person that I ever could have hoped to meet; a person that is perfect for me in every way and even exceeds my expectations in every possible way there is. I never thought I would meet a person as amazing as my fiance and I owe it all to OLD.
I don't have any plans to abandon this board. I still come here all the time and read what is going on with everyone, I just don't post too often (usually someone post my opinion prior to my reading). I wish everyone the best of luck!
Best Wishes,
J

Hi Sparkle,
Funny, But I didn't think of you as being one of the more new people. I swear I have posted to one of your topics before. Been a while though. I don't post too often, even when I was on the board a lot more than I am now, I never was a big poster. Was it you that had something going on with trying to meet an attorney a few months ago who was extremely busy? (maybe it was someone else) and I posted about dating an attorney, my now fiance :) and that he was extremely busy and initially we had some slight scheduling conflicts.

That is wonderful news for you. I don't post a lot but read messages often.

Did you use a service like eharmony or one of them? I am soooo skeptical and paranoid of OLD but I did get my nerve up and went to eharmony

Congratulations again! I hope you are happy.

Hi Emma b2,

We met through the LavaLife website. I know everyone has different opinions on the many and varied websites for OLD, but I really liked Lava. Lava has 3 different types of dating profiles, one for casual dating, one for LTR dating, and one for intimate encounters (side note, I didn't use that last portion at all). Lava allows you to purchase credits to use as you want so I found that to be a bit cheaper than paying for some of the other dating websites. I personally found that a lot more men contacted me through lava, both through the lava onsite messaging service and via email. I basically found it to be a simple and easy site to use that was cost effective. I do understand that depending where you live, a site can vary greatly. I live in the Philadelphia area and I liked it the best out of yahoo, match, eharmony and a couple others that I can't remember. I wish the best of luck to you on eharmony. Just be safety minded at all times with OLD and have fun.

That is AWESOME!! Congratulations! I wanna hear the story of how he proposed. Can you tell us?

I also want to thank you for not posting about every date, every sigh, and every gushy moment in the course of your relationship. I think that shows a lot of respect for those who aren't having such a great time of it, which, sadly, is a lot of us...lol.

I’m so happy for you. I’m a sucker for a good romance story; love to hear how he proposed if not I understand as it was shared between the two of you. I bet you almost died when he proposed especially if it was unexpected (the best kind)!

Sigh – see; it does happen. Gives us all hope.

Cheers,
SP :-)
