OLD update

Just wanted to give everyone an update. A lot of new people here since the last time I posted :-) and for all the new ones, a brief history: I started talking with a guy from Lava back in February of this year (great guy) went on a few dates, normal OLD routine watching for "red flags" not keeping all the eggs in one basket, etc, etc... In April we began dating exclusively. Some of you will remember my posting about all this and the whole six dates before we had a first very romantic kiss (very exciting). Well, I wanted to let everyone know, I am officially an engaged woman now :-) thanks to OLD. We are in the very beginning stages of tenatively planning a wedding for next May, in Florida and we are very excited. I have found the absolute best person that I ever could have hoped to meet; a person that is perfect for me in every way and even exceeds my expectations in every possible way there is. I never thought I would meet a person as amazing as my fiance and I owe it all to OLD.
I don't have any plans to abandon this board. I still come here all the time and read what is going on with everyone, I just don't post too often (usually someone post my opinion prior to my reading). I wish everyone the best of luck!
Best Wishes,
J

I hadn't even thought of telling how he proposed :-) Iknow I have been asked by my mom and I was all, "well, mom, you know, it was sweet." Yes, it was very personal and intimate, but I am willing to share so...
Simply put, over the last week or so, we have been talking a lot about the future. We already knew we wanted to get married at some point in the not too distant future and have discussed trying for a baby starting in 2006 but there had never been a solid, definite proposal. I didn't really think about it to much; I knew that R would probably do something terribly romantic and I thought it may include my children in some way but other than that, I really hadn't given it a great deal of thought, I just figured when he had it all planned in his head and had a ring, he would do it then. Well, this past Saturday, R cooked for me. We had been planning this for about a week and Saturday we did all our shopping for our dinner (i just love it when he cooks for me, which is most nights, for you guys, we girls think it is totally sexy!) Ended up being a bit later start than we expected because I was not feeling well at all, but it was ok. I wont bore you with the details of the dinner, but it was delicious!!! We ended up just talking all night and sometime in the wee early morning hours it all came together for R and he became all serious and asked me to marry him. It was completely unexpected to me, I wasn't thinking about it at all and I just kind of looked at him and said "Are you serious?" and he said yes and I started crying (it is very overwhelming) and I said "ok" and I cried a whole lot more. We never really went to sleep saturday night. R went out and got the Sunday paper and I did sleep for about 2 hours while he was reading the paper. R kept talking about needing to get a ring and he was happy that I would now be included in that process because he would be assured that I would like my ring. We just did our normal thing all day Sunday but for me it was absolutely blissful, we were in a bubble all day :-) and to end the day we took a very romantic carraige ride through historic Philadelphia and our driver was the first person we told. It was a gorgeous day. I am still in a bubble. It is, in a way, hard to believe that such a great and amazing person wants to marry me, and share the rest of their life, with me. It is just amazing. And I am really excited to receive an engagement ring ;-)
I am a bit apprehensive about the whole wedding part of it all. It will be somewhat of a destination wedding as I am from FL and we live in PA. We both agree to wanting a small wedding but last night we did some preliminary counting of the absolute must invite family and friends and hit 100 people with out even stretching. That doesn't seem small to me.
Thanks for reading all this, hope it wasn't too terribly long.
best wishes to all,
J

That's just beautiful - thank you for sharing. I love how you went out the next day & went on a carriage ride - what a great story to tell for the rest of your lives - sigh.
