Does anybody find any use to the Mutual Match percentage numbers on match.com?? I recently went on there and looked at profiles that said 84% match, 71% match, or 59% match, etc. I don't really see any need for this. When I do a search in my area for the criteria I'm looking for the percentages don't really play a role in my decision to contact someone. What about you guys?

I found the percentages more helpful when it used to relate to the personality matches. Now I think they are irrelevant. All it does it line up the column of what you are looking for (based on the options given to you) against the column of what the other person is looking for. Living in SoCal, 90% of the guys are looking for the same thing anyway- so I don't even pay attention to the % anymore.

I really wish they'd bring back the personality and physical attraction matching- I found them to be pretty accurate. Can you tell I miss them? ;)

I have only used 'matching' percentages as another means for a search engine. I've varied my search criteria before because I've found that different people show up on different criteria searches.

That's sounds duh-obvious... but...

I have found 'different' GOOD potential matches by varying one or two or three or four tick boxes (non-critical items) and then viewing the selected profiles. I think the site software programs limit the amount of matches they send you (saves them bandwith) so if you vary your criteria... you get some different (yet, acceptable) new faces pop up.

It seems that a lot of women use the % matching. In looking over my mutual match list -- many of the people who'd contact me from out of state showed up on there.

I don't use the percentages that much, mostly because I don't know how they come up with those numbers. Sometimes I see someone who is such a lousy match, but ranks highly, and I think "how on earth did I match so highly with that gal?"
