I was searching for a horse show photographer, and came across this gal's website.

She does "Internet Dating" photography.

They are professional pictures, but not glamour-shots types.

Would anyone invest the $$$ in something like this?

Of course they would. LG's wrong, or only speaking for himself.

Evidence strongly indicates, however, that people will spend money on ANYTHING. The mother of an old GF of mine once gave me, get this, a lump of coal for Christmas. From the Titanic.

No, I'm not making this up. People actually buy lumps of coal from the Titanic, because they're "collectible". http://www.sciencemall-usa.com/titaniccoal.html

(Let's not ponder a GF's mother giving me coal for Christmas, okay?)

So would people spend money on getting a decent photograph for use on an Internet profile?

You better believe it. Heck, I've thought of it myself. Haven't actually DONE it, but I've thought of it. If I thought it would seriously help, I'd probably do it, but since I'm doing okay without it I haven't.

I wouldn't but almost especially from her b/c most of the photos she has out there except for the top two people are pretty creepy. That guy in the second row is OK but that chick in the blue top looks kinda odd. And that chick on the swing looks kinda demented! I am the first to admit that a great picture can do wonders and that I need to get some more (I couldn't figure out the stupid timer thing this weekend!) but that I would never pay someone for that service!

I think perhaps you're confusing ugly people with bad photographs. LOL

Seriously, they're not BAD photos, at least in a technical sense. The second one of the blue-top gal is actually quite good, IMO. And I'm not just saying that because she has a nice chest. The photos are well-lit and the colors are good. I think she needs to learn/practice a little bit more about depth of field- all of them, the subject and the background is a bit tight and the people don't "stand out" enough.

But they're a heck of a lot better pictures than what the average Joe or Jane posts from their webcam or camera phone.

LOL - point taken but doesn't that chick in the orange tank top look creepy?!? It's the eyes I think with both of those women. The one in the blue shirt is kind of staring off into space and the other one looks manic.

I suppose getting professional pics wouldn't be a really bad thing, but honestly to me, professional pics is almost as big a turnoff as Glamour Shots. Mr. Thumb-In-His-Pants that I mentioned in the other thread has shots that all look professionally done or at least by someone that knows how to work a camera. He works in the entertainment industry (ever seen that show Cheaters? - he does post production work) so he probably knows people. But anyway, I would much rather see a clear amateur shot than these silly, posed professional ones.

I got DS a lump of coal for Christmas. Except it was really black raspberry bubble gum. Looks like coal, though.

Hey call me crazy but I just don't believe you can beat a dimly lit web cam shot in a room with three or four baskets of dirty laundry on top of an unmade bed in the background ....

I would not. I can think of better things to do with my money. I take my own digital pics using my timer or even use pics my 5-year-old took and I get compliments on them and their quality all the time. I would never spend money on it.

I think they have a market. There are many people who just don't photograph well at all and need/want them done professionally. And EVERYONE hates GlamourShots. So this is a nice alternative.

I think the sample shots are well done and look candid.
