I'm wondering what everyone's opinions are here and also, what you describe yourself as...

On the sites, when you see people who list themselves as having a few extra pounds, being large or being thick, what are the differences to you? How do you list yourself?

You know how I can tell? If I can tackle someone, then I'm bigger boned... *giggle* Ok I'm being stupid. But if what peanut and sheri and lothriel say, then I'm medium boned... so what does that mean? :o heheh

I am definitely big-boned if you do the "finger test." But I can tell I'm big-boned just by looking at my wrists, ankles, and shoulders, and by feeling my shins.

THICK is used quite a bit in the "African-American" communities. THICK means having ample breasts and hips with a small waist! Some men love THICK women, but that means NO or minimum stomach -- must be shapely!! A "few extra pounds", sometimes could mean overweight (and is used quite a bit by women who are overweight) and usually if it's centered around your middle (stomach area), then you are NOT considered THICK or shapely! That is why "few extra pounds" is not chosen or skipped by men on their profiles! Hope this helps!!

Ah, ok, thanks, that clarifies things...although I don't think that definition is universal, because an African-American gentlemen I dated a few years ago did describe me as "thick"...and I definitely have a tummy, and do not have big boobs (I do have the ample hips, though) ;-).

P.S. Edited to add...because of that, I thought maybe it meant "thick through the middle", but wasn't sure...interesting to learn that it does not mean that.

Sheri... I agree with the other poster to a point. Thick also means a heavier woman from what I know based on my experiences... She can have a belly, butt, breasts but just can't be sloppy. She's gotta be tight. Tight as in well put together, not firm physically.

See, what you just described is what I would call "curvy."

I have a thick waist and big boobs but no hips.
