1. What is your favorite online dating site and why?
--Hard to say, as I've only tried a few so far - but the best selection in my area seems to be Yahoo. One of the main features I find lacking, which AmericanSingles has, is the option to view the newest profiles.
2. How many couples do you know who've met via an online dating site who are now married?
--Personally, none - but several "friends of friends".
3. What is the worst thing an online prospect has said to you?
--Sleaziest: "Give me a call at xxx-xxxx and tell me what turns you on..."
--Dumbest: (I mentioned interest in paleontology in my profile) "What is palontology? Isn't that about ancient plants or something?" When in doubt, google it, dummy.
4. What is the best thing an online prospect has said to you? Did you meet in person then?
--"I already thought you were attractive just by personality without having seen your picture - but now I see you are indeed the total package!" Yes we met, had 4 dates in fact, but it fizzled pretty quick.
5. Do you think online dating is a good thing overall? If not, why do we keep doing it then? LOL
--I enjoy having a variety of people to check out, being able to get a glimpse of their personality right away, knowing if you have something in common right away. Sure, it's not quite the candy store I thought it would be, but it is interesting. It's helped me get over some of my fear of rejection, and I've learned some more reasonable expectations about the whole dating thing in general. I'm learning to not take things personally in the early stages. Having been on for just 2 months, I haven't burned out yet so that's good. ;-)
Good questions!!
1. What is your favorite online dating site and why?
Match - in this area it appears most active.
2. How many couples do you know who've met via an online dating site who are now married?
Zero
3. What is the worst thing an online prospect has said to you?
-Are you that funny in person
-Any variation of "you seem like a nice guy"
4. What is the best thing an online prospect has said to you? Did you meet in person then?
-Several gushing emails about how fun I was. I didn't meet them because how could they tell from reading a profile.
5. Do you think online dating is a good thing overall? If not, why do we keep doing it then? LOL
-I think it's a good way to meet people
-I think it's bad because for new members it promotes the Bigger and Better Deal syndrome which I have seen many times in action - and I know the syndrome seldom works because those BBD'ers are still active after a year.
1. What is your favorite online dating site and why?
*** www.babeonhd.com - much in common with people on there, introduced to several, one I actually fell in love with and all I have been very attracted to ***
2. How many couples do you know who've met via an online dating site who are now married?
*** One. And I think they've been married almost 8 years now. I think it's gotten worse since it's first inception. It's not taken nearly as seriously. ***
3. What is the worst thing an online prospect has said to you?
*** "You're so pretty - how come you're still single?" I hate that line. "Because I'm a nut job!" Not really but that's what I feel like saying. ***
4. What is the best thing an online prospect has said to you? Did you meet in person then?
*** That I was the best thing that ever happened to him and he was proud to call me "friend". Note to self: the best thing that ever happens to a person usually has nothing to do with online dating. ***
5. Do you think online dating is a good thing overall? If not, why do we keep doing it then? LOL
*** I think it sucks and it's hit and miss. However, it is entertaining. Kinda like the Anna Nicole Smith show - it's so bad but you can't help but watch. I keep doing it because I meet no one otherwise. So I guess it's better than nothing.

>>What is your favorite online dating site and why?<<
Match, because of sheer numbers. They have the most people in my area, so they have the most prospects. I used to prefer Matchmaker, when they had equivalent numbers, because their matching system was better and they had better profile layouts.
>>How many couples do you know who've met via an online dating site who are now married?<<
Um, none. But I have known a few that have had long-term relationships, including myself, that could've turned into marriage (again including myself).
>>What is the worst thing an online prospect has said to you?<<
"Quit sending me email, you pervert."
No, not really. Um... come to think of it, I've never really had an online prospect say anything bad or nasty to me. I guess I'm lucky.
>>What is the best thing an online prospect has said to you? Did you meet in person then?<<
One gal recently said that I really seemed to have my priorities straight and that she was very attracted to that. Unfortunately, in the past week or so it looks like she's ghosted on me, but I tried to meet her- our calendars just didn't match up. SH.
>>Do you think online dating is a good thing overall? If not, why do we keep doing it then? LOL<<
LOL I think it is, as long as we don't get all relationship-mad over someone we only just met through email and a phone call or three.
The people who keep doing it even though they think it's a bad thing, I believe they're doing it because they like the feeling of "falling in love" without having to actually DO the work necessary or put themselves at true risk of being hurt.
I think that people hold themselves back in about a million different ways, including myself.
It never ceases to amaze me how we will keep doing the same thing over and over again, despite obvious evidence that whatever it is we're doing isn't working.
1. What is your favorite online dating site and why?
I use jdate because it has the largest selection of people who match my search criteria.
2. How many couples do you know who've met via an online dating site who are now married?
Zero.
3. What is the worst thing an online prospect has said to you?
"You're ugly"
"You're a snob"
"That's it. I'm gone. I've had enough of you."
4. What is the best thing an online prospect has said to you? Did you meet in person then?
I have had a few guys gush about me in their intro emails. I never met any of them. The gushers tend to match almost none of my preferences. The guys I have met were more casual in their messages - that's more realistic in my opinion and more likely to appeal to me. Once or twice, men I've met in person, I've been told that I look better in real life than my photo.
5. Do you think online dating is a good thing overall? If not, why do we keep doing it then? LOL
I find it frustrating at times since most prospects don't lead to anything. You do need to have a thick skin because often I think it's easier to not even try dating at all then to face rejection and/or being overlooked by sooo many people . Nevertheless, if I do want to meet people, this is the easiest way for me to do it. That's why I keep trying.
Great questions, Lisa!
1. What is your favorite online dating site and why?
I like match.com, like other have said, for the sheer numbers. It also has another nice feature that posts the person's age requirements without having to open the profile to find it. So, if I see that a guy is looking for someone where the cut-off age is 40, I pass it right by, since obviously I don't fit his criteria.
2. How many couples do you know who've met via an online dating site who are now married?
None, zip, zero, nada
3. What is the worst thing an online prospect has said to you?
"I spent 3 years in the slammer for violating a restraining order." Yes, you read that right. That's my all-time favorite. My second all-time favorite is "You're not attractive enough for me to date."
4. What is the best thing an online prospect has said to you? Did you meet in person then?
He said, "You're a joy," Unfortunately, HE was not.
5. Do you think online dating is a good thing overall? If not, why do we keep doing it then? LOL
OY! How else would I meet anybody? For Pete's sake, a car passes by my house about once every 3 hours. LOL!
1. What is your favorite online dating site and why? ummm... Adultfriendfinder.com because I'm not looking for anything momogamous or serious at all right now, and I *do* like to hook up when it feels right. A single friend of mine recommended AFF to me and so far it's been a good experince.
2. How many couples do you know who've met via an online dating site who are now married? None that I know of.
3. What is the worst thing an online prospect has said to you? Nothing bad so far
4. What is the best thing an online prospect has said to you? Did you meet in person then? One said, "My god, you're gorgeous!" among other really nice things. I did meet him twice, but the relationship seemed really unbalanced so I cut it off. He was way more into me than I was him, and wanted more from me than I was comfortabe with.
5. Do you think online dating is a good thing overall? If not, why do we keep doing it then? LOL I think it's a good thng if you are careful.
Hey, maybe she prefers social reject nerds who're on the computer over drunks!
LOL
A friend of mine met his wife on an OLD site.
Another friend, who's a good bit older than me, is seriously dating someone met on an OLD site
